The Gods

Aldur

Aldur was the eldest and wisest of UL's sons. He did not chose a race to worship him after creation, but instead chose to study the earth and everything in it. He did, however, take on disiples and taught them the "Word and the Will". His disiples were:

Belgarath (and later Poledra)
Beldin
Belkira & Beltira
Belmakor (unmade himself)
Belsambar (unmade himself)
Belzedar (the apostate)
Belgarion
Polgara
(Bel)Durnik

Aldur "rubbed" life into an ordinary stone which became the Orb of Aldur. The Angaraks called it Cthrag Yaska. The Orb was responsible for the maiming of Torak.

Belar

Belar is the God of the Alorns (Cherek, Drasnia, Algaria, Isle of the Winds) and is in a strage sense, a young god. Immature would better describe him. Before leaving with the rest of the gods, Belgarath often found him with lots of women and wine.
Belar caused two stars to fall north of Riva's city, where Riva, with the advice of Belgarath, formed Iron-Grip's sword.

Chaldan

Chaldan is the Bullgod of the Arends. Chaldan may or may not be as stupid as his people are, but you never know.

Eriond

Eriond, formerly known as Errand, is the new god of the Angaraks and soon to be god of all people. Eriond was the small boy found by Zedar and was used to steal the Orb from Riva. Eriond grew up with Durnik and Polgara in the vale and constantly fell into the creek. During the Mallorean, UL revealed to Belgarion his real name 'Eriond'.

Issa

Issa, the snake god of the Nyissans, hibernates in a stone statue behind the dias behind Salmissra's throne. Salmissra is the name given to each queen of Nyissa. Polgara turned Salmissra into a giant snake after she had Garion kiddnapped.

Mara

Mara is the god of the Marags. Named the weeping god after the destruction of Maragor, he placed ghosts throughout the land to ward off any of those who still felt the need for the gold. Now, Relg and Taiba live in Maragor and are busy repopulating it.

Nedra

Nedra, the liongod of the Tolnedrans, places the thoughts of greediness in the minds of his worshippers. The color yellow closely resembles that of a lion, but more like the color of gold. The Tolnedrans invaded Maragor because of their lust of the gold that was lying around.

Torak

Torak, the evil dragongod of the Angaraks, was killed in a duel with Belgarion. Was the only figure to be Child of Dark, other than Zandramas. Torak lost the battle of Vo Mimbre and was rendered comatose until Belgarion came along to finish the job. Torak, like his brother Aldur, took in disiples. They were: Urvon, Ctuchik, and Zedar.

UL

UL is the father of the gods. He didn't bother to chose any race until Gorim, the leader of a branch of the "godless" ones, bullied him into it. UL lead those willing to follow to Ulgoland and left the remaining to die out. (Their women went barren).
