I normally don't like to play in constructed tournaments, but i attended this one because i was bored and because of the following email i received:

On behalf of Comics Corner and the Management (Mr. Alex Cheah), players who play at GP Singapore last week (refer to the name list below), are NOT advisable to participate in this coming Kuala Lumpur Regionals (6th of April) at Comics Corner Tournament Center II in Subang Jaya. This is because of the recent disease outbreak in Singapore and Hong Kong (Pneumonia/Virus) and the Comic Corner Management does not want to risk the other players.

Those who are affected are as follows, these players are still allowed to participant in other Regionals in Malaysia ie, Ipoh, Penang and Kota Kinabalu areas.

more chance of me winning if those guys weren't there, so i went. it was a standard tournament (only 7th edition, odyssey, torment, judgment, onslaught, legions). Here's my deck (RG beatdown):

The thing about Psychatog decks is that they pack a lot of removal (Innocent Blood and Chainer's Edict and Smother). I did 9 damage to him before I ran out of spells. He countered most of my stuff with Counterspell and Circular Logic, doing 1 damage to me each turn with Psychatog. Finally, in the last turn, he did 14 damage to me in one go with the Psychatog to kill me.

I sideboarded out 4 Shock and 4 Firebolt (burn is more useful to kill creatures), brought in Compost (he has black spells), Seedtime (he has counterspells), 3 Naturalize (to kill his Compulsion), 2 Price of Glory (counterspells), 1 Boil (destroy islands). this time, he didn't do a single damage to me. Here's how it went. I played wild mongrel, discarded Anger to it to give it haste, then attacked. when i had four lands, i discared basking rootwalla, which he counterd. i discarded roar of the wurm, then played it out with flashback and attacked with both for 10 damage (haste because of anger). he gave up and i ended with 0 damage.

He didn't play anything in the last game. nothing significant to report here.

result: 1-0-0 (match win-loss-draw)/2-1-0 (games win-loss-draw)

I know kevin from comixtra. first round i did 10 damage to him before he stabilized. and killed me with 20 damage from psychatog.

my sideboarding was same as first round. kevin didn't get any of the card-drawing spells that psychatog needs (compulsion, deep analysis) plus his inspiration. I killed him and he didn't do a single damage.

third round ended in a draw because time ran out. he did some damage with some zombies from zombie infestation, aether bursted my creatures, while i naturalized his compulsions and boiled his islands.

result: 1-0-1/3-2-1

first game i killed him with my things burn and creatures and he didn't do any damage to me.

I sideboarded in breaking points (he was playing a creature deck) and lavaborn muses (creature decks generally have empty hands). Sided out 3 Anger and 1 shock. THis time he managed to get some damage, but he won because of wonder in his graveyard and worship, so he couldn't die and i couldn't block

third game i took out lavaborn muses for dwell on the past to get rid of wonder, and naturlizes for shocks to destroy worship. However, he made a mistake in sideboarding (too many cards in the deck) and he got a game loss.

result: 2-0-1/5-3-1

I won the first game although he used corrupt a few times to get back life, i ran him over eventually. I ended with 7 life.

I sideboarded in Compost, 2 naturalize (afraid of mirari), 2 dwell on the past (against haunting echoes) and took out 1 mongrel, 1 fiery temper, 1 llanowar elf, 1 shock and 1 basking rootwala (minimze effects of haunting echoes). This one he won because of Visara. I ran out of burn to kill the legend and it killed me. i managed to do 11 damage to him before it ended.

i didn't see any enchantments and artifacts, so i took out the naturalizes and put 2 lavaborn muse (just to have more creatures). I lost again because of visara.

result: 2-1-1/6-5-1

I lost the first game thanks to roar of the wurm tokens. nothing much a red deck can do against 6/6 creatures.

i sided in 2 lavaborn muse (fast decks empty hand), 2 breaking point (many and huge creatures), 2 dwell on the past (roar of the wurm) and boil. this game went better. in the last attack, i had 2 mongrel in play and he had a wurm. he had 8 life and i had 10. i attacked with both. he blocked one. i discarded a mongrel and a land to the unblocked one to make it 4/4 to deal 4 damage. then i played firebolt and flashed it back to deal another 4 damage and kill him.

i won the last game thanks to lavaborn muse. he had 13 life and i had 17 life. he had a wurm token. i played breaking point and he took 6 damage from it. i had no creatures. i used my other three mana to fiery temper his wild mogrel (he had no cards in hand). i was holding a llanowar elves and a lavaborn muse. then he attacked with wurm. life: me: 11, him: 7. then i played lavaborn muse and 2 elves. he took 3 damage from the muse during his upkeep. then i firebolted him, with flashback, and he died next upkeep thanks to the muse.

result: 3-1-1/8-6-1

first round i died to roar of the wurm tokens.

second round i died to flying roar of the wurm tokens (wonder was in graveyard)

result: 3-2-1/8-8-1
