ANIMAL RIGHTS TRUTHS PAGE 3
YOU HAVE ALL BEEN MISLED FAR FAR TOO LONG
Animal rights groups are deliberately economical with the truth to raise sympathy and through that sympathy raise funds for potty crusade against CIRCUS,ZOOS,FISHING and what next CAGED BIRDS,RACING(DOG,PIGON,HORSE,TROTTING),SHOW JUMPING?
NOW IS THE TIME TO PUT A STOP TO THIS STUPIDITY
Dr Marthe Kiley Worthington BSc. DPhil. MIAC, the renowned animal behaviour consultant, spent eighteen months in 1987/88 studying British circus for the RSPCA and they were unhappy with her report when she cancluded."

1) The RSPCA call for a total ban on circus is suspect since circuses do not by their nature cause suffering and distress to animals. It is therefore irrational for the RSPCA to take a stand against circuses  on the grounds that animals in circuses necessarily suffer unless they are to take the same stand against zoos, stablke, racehorses, kennels, pets and all outher kinds of animal keeping systems."

2)  No evidence of distress or trauma as a result of transportation was seen as animals became verey used to this."

3)   The training of animals was professionally done and generally of high standard and skill. however there was insufffucient training of animals going on in meany circuses but no evidence of cruelty, or prolonged pain and suffering during training of any animal I witnessed. Most of the training was done with the aid of positive reinforcement. negative reinfordement( a whip or verbal scolding) was used but not much and no more than with a good horse or dog trainer."

4)  circuses are uniquely placed to do scientific research or cognition: how and what different species can learn, how and what they think, and how they perceive their world:their telos, and research on the human/animal relationship. They could have an important role to play in education for the public and heightening the espect for individual animals, their unique intelligences and amazing abilities.

5) It is important there should be no discrimination in favour of the larger circuses.
some of the smaller circus were found to have high standards.

6) On balance I do not think the animals best interest are therefore necessarily served by money and activities diverted to try and ban circuses eitherlocally or nationally what is more important is to cantinue to encourage the circuses to improve their animal welfare along the lines pointed in the recommendation and to back some inspection to ensure certain criteria are met.
