Vaympyre Chapter Eleven by: Lazuli I felt strange, as if someone had made a connection with me without my knowledge. It felt faint, and far away.... as if through a great tunnel of some sort. I saw Endymion start as well, and I looked up to him, confused. "What was that, Endymion? Who.. what happened?" I was afraid that something dire had happened, that we were on the verge of being attacked by an unseen enemy. The touch did not seem evil, but it was more like a premonition of sorts. That a monumental event was about to occur, and this was just a warning in advance. "I think that Leda has meet us, in some future point in time, Serenity." His face was serious, free of all joking. I thought that Endymion said that his powers did not extend over the breach of time. He nodded, sensing my thoughts, or perhaps just reading the confused look on my face. "That is true, Serenity, but with your power, you almost exceed myself in a manner. You have the power of bonds.. to break them, or to overcome them. You connected with the bond of your own blood of the future. It is the only explanation that I can give you for this. I can only surmise that Leda met up with us, but she is still far away for our present selves to meet her." Nodding, I let my attention drift from that, onto my mother.I had a feeling that she would become a local legend in this town. A sign to all those who dared to be cruel... or if they did the wrong thing. I smiled. Mother would keep them in line. I no longer had to worry about my old home, or old life. The future was now. Leda was limp with relief when she knew that Pallas could no longer use Marcus to hurt her with. There were other ways of harming her, but her heart would not be so brusied over the matter. Leda winced when she saw the look on Pallas's face, the dead calm in her eyes as she regarded Leda. This did not bode good. "I see that you have taken away my pet. I have worked so very hard to attain him. You will not be happy with what I am about the devise for you, my servant." Leda shook her head. She knew that she would pay for what happened, but at least she knew that Marcus was safe. That those strangers in that distant time would care for him, and that one day she would meet up with him. "I know how you despise me. I can not make you wholly mine. Not yet. But I can keep you further under my control. You know that I am bound to the darkness. I believe that I have been giving you too long a leash. Perhaps if you are bound by the same chains as I, then you will think differently on how you treat your Master." Leda's eyes closed in horror. What did she mean? What could Pallas be planning to do? Pallas stood up suddenly, and was gripping Leda's throat in a tight hold before Leda had realized that she had even moved from the seat. "A simple spell of darkness... something that will make the light poison your skin, to burn you if you ever venture in it's rays again. You will soon become my creature, and never again pass for a human in the mortal world. You will be mine." Leda felt all light fleeing from her, and she knew that the battle in the years ahead would be a hard one to fight indeed. Serenity and Endymion 200 Years Later Leda 50 Years Later I relaxed aganist Endymion, relishing in the last hundred years or so. Time had melted together for me, no longer seeming to matter anymore. I wondered if that was what Endymion had felt when he had first met me. If he could have waited for a long time to be with me, if I had first refused his 'offer' for me to be a part of him. Ismiled at the memory. It was so long ago, and the start of my past with him was long gone, my village home faded into memory, save for a single home that had become legend over time, as I knew it would. I never visited the area again, but I heard of the whispered tales that passed along through the generations. I felt a faint foreboding go through me as I thought of the past, and more to the point, as my mind drifted towards a single person. Leda. As if now was the time that we were to meet. Now was the time for the bond to be made of our alliance. "Endymion?" I looked up at my beloved, my head tilted slightly the side, awaiting his answer to my silent query. He nodded, and his eyes darkened with anticipation. "It is time, Serenity. Time to seek out Leda." I nodded slowly as he pulled me tighter aganist him, as if a hidden sense was telling him to be wary. I did not being closer to my beloved, and I let him draw me close to him, so close that there did not seem to be any room between us. As if you could not tell where he left off and I began. I enjoyed it being that way, even after so long with him. Even after our minds had intertwined and the actual touching of bodies to one another was no longer needed, we still used that contact. It was if it made us stronger, telling us that that contact was not a useless act on our parts, but an even further strenghtning of our bond. I knew that my entire existance had been driving towards this point. To meet leda, if not to fight Pallas. That may not be a task for several centuries yet, but we would pave the way for that battle. To make the first connection. I let Endymion kiss me gently then, ignoring the crowd around us, forgetting that there were people that frowned upon that type of public display. I had left the modesty that I once attained in life centuries ago, and I only cared about the moments in Endymion's arms when we were not hiding from people who sought our demise, not planning for the new fight, and not getting used to the gradual changes the came upon us as decades went by with no more recognition as seconds fly by. Leda walked along the dark paths of the alley, used to the naunces and changes of the dark now, her pale face standing out in the faint glimmer of moonlight from above. She knew that if she was found by any of the members of the town, she would be burned or hung for the creature that wandered into their safe homes. "As if I had a choice. I am under orders. They are lucky 'tis me they deal with, and not my Master. They should pray for such fortunate tidings upon them." Her eyes narrowed briefly as she thought again of the curse that was placed upon her. How she truly became a creature of the night, unable to bear the touch of daylight, but to be called to the sounds and scents of the night as the needle in a compass shows the way home. That even though Pallas cursed her from daylight, the moon was just as bright and the night held it's own beauty. The night that had it's own predators about, the ones that called to her as though they were a part of her family, acknowledged her as one of their own. Her lit up with joy as she caught the scent of a meal for her, and she felt the darkness inside of her try to take over, and she struggled aganist it. A gentle hand on her shoulder almost made her lose her concentration, and she saw red for a precious few seconds before her vision cleared and she met with the clear blue gaze of a peasant girl. She had the feeling that she had met the girl before, but Leda was not sure how. She had never been in this town before, but surely no simple child would follow her! "Go home! You should not be out here at night with my kind." Leda backed away from the girl, feeling a headache coming from lack of blood, lack of the hunt, and from denying her inner nature. It had been so long now, and she still had not conquered it. "Leda, it will be so much easier if you accept it, instead of denying it. It will only bring you more pain if you deny it, and you will never be able to break the chains of your bondage if you do not overcome the obstacle of what you are now." "What do you know about what I am, little girl? It is none of your concern! Do not bother with me!" She reached out to shove the child away, when her wrist was held in an iron grip. "Please, Leda.... do not fight the darkness inside you. Accept the gifts that were given to you. Once you accept the face that the darkness is there, and it can do you no harm, then it will cease to be held over your head like an axe waiting to fall. I know what you are going through. I have seen you before, even if you do not remember." Leda studied the stranger more carefully, and she then realized where she had seen the girl before. That time of so many years into the future. "That is right, Leda. My name is Serenity." That is the ending of that chapter! It's tres early in the morning, minna. Enjoy, and remember, I am STILL for WAFF WAFF WAFF! *giggles* Laz
