Chapter 3
A Portal of Destiny

At the end of the hour of writing, Rockana siddled toward the school door, quickly pulled it open, and began to walk home. The walk lasted forever. "Jerk, look what you have done! Life won't be the same at school again, you know. I'll be some what of a criminal after that offence. Why in the world do I have to see my father and some floating sappire?" she shouted. Out of disgust, she kicked a piece of trash on the ground." I feel like I belong else where" Rockana said. Her pace slowed and a sense of instability came over her.
She stepped into her house a few minutes later and ran up stairs. Rockana flung open the door to her room and jumped on her bed. There she just waiting to wake up and for everything to be a dream.
While she looked up at the ceiling she got this feeling like the ability to use water was natural her and not only her but many others.    Rockana became very restless and decided to go to the attic. Inside was the only picture of her father. Because the picture caused large amounts of pain for her mother, it was kept there. Rockana began to dig through the boxes to find the picture. At last, she found it. She raised the picture up to the light. Her father was smiling brightly. He was very handsome and his eyes were kind, serene, and determined. A west wind was blowing his hazelnut hair and his light summer clothes. "That man was ... my dad." she whispered. Rockana became fustrated, "What is this power and dad, what does he he have to do with anything?
Right when the door opened, she put away the picture. "Rockana, I'm home!" cried her mother. "k" shouted Rockana. She jumped off the ground and ran downstairs to see how her mom's day was.
Rockana's mother threw herself on the sofa. She was very tense and seemed very troubled. Rockana sat on a chair close by looking concerned. Rockana's mom looked at the ceiling and started crying out in a "Four out of my five employees quit. why you might ask because next door a new book shop opened up that looks nicer and offers more pay." Her mom became quiet. "After all I have done for them: listening to their problems, giving them extra time off, and always encouraging them," she said softly. Tears fell down her face. She didn't bother to wipe her eyes. Rockana felt her mother's pain enter her own.
She wished to stop her mother from feeling like this. Always trying to make money; barely did sucess come their way. Her mom tried to work in so many fields. She was always stressed out. Rockana's mom was always active, never stopping or tiring.
Rockana looked compassionately into her mother's eyes and said "I'm sure everything will be okay." Her mother cried harder. "O Rockana, my dear Rockana" Rockana hugged her. "When hardship comes our way we always try our best to defeat it...together" Her mom nodded and smilied. Rockana smilied back.
As they ate dinner, her mother asked how Rockana's day was. "It was horrible" Rockana replied while moving her fork absentmindly. Her mother down sadly. "Rockana" Rockana looked up at her attentively. "Rockana, the authories said you have to leave to today" "What authories? What are you talking about? Rockana exclaimed. "The authories on Recion..they said you are starting to come into your powers again." "What???" cried Rockana. "Didn't something abnormal happen today?" asked her mother. "Well, first I touched a crystal and then I saw dad and then I accidently hit someone with a blast of water. I know caused that blast but I just can't believe... This is a dream. It's not true." "Rockana, look at me. Haven't you felt like you are from another place.. that you came from outside earth. Rockana was about to say no but she stopped midway. She knew somehow she knew things were not as they were to be. "Rockana, you are from a planet called Morvian and you are a Toikon. We are people who can learn to control elements. I was born with the potential to control wind. You were born with the potential to control water. People on my planet can tell at birth." said her mother. "Can I see your power?" "ok, look up at the fan" Her mother looked up at the fan flicked her wrist in a circulor motion. The fan moved extremely fast for half a second. Then she kept moving her wrist and the fan continued moving in the same way. She stopped moving her hand and looked Rockana. Rockana stared at the fan in disbelief. "Now come over to the sink" Rockana came over. " Close your eyes and touch the faucet" "This is ridiculess. I mean how IN THE WORLD," Rockana replied. "Just be quiet. You can do it. You can make the water come out without turning the knobs." "Think about the trama you have gone through. Think about the turbulent water. Use that energy to bring up the water. Rockana thought about Amamda making fun of her. Again she felt that feeling in her heart. She imaged raging water inside her and transfered that to the faucet. She imaged the faucets water as her tears. Her heart beat faster and faster till a flood of water came out of the faucet. Rockana immediately let go after it and ran up to her room. Her mother helplessly watched her go up to her room. Anger, frustration confusion, and a deep wounding sadness creep into Rockana. Could she ever be happpy? What was she? Who was she? All these questions troubled Rockana.
