| Daca pana acum a fost "carte de buzunar", de acum o sa fie si album de buzunar: e mic si subtire, poate fi luat drept carte de rugaciuni. 1. Embodiment Cele cateva (34) secunde de la inceput sunt fenomenale: reusesc sa faca trecerea de la totul de dinainte la melodie intr-un mod cat se poate de natural. Un bucium modern care nu numai suna cu jale ci si prevesteste o stare de spirit "into the nightmarish". Apoi urmeaza acele momente dinainte furtunii dominate de aproape liniste. Repetarea acelui sunet transmite o startea de obsesie si sfarseala/oboseala. Sunetul acesta devine o melodie in sine si incepe sa se intample astfel incat nu poate fi constientizata. Mesajul melodiei este intensificat de gradatia ascendenta (mama ce "ca la carte a sunat asta*) a acestei repetitii. Din momentul in care apare vocea, toata melodia capata un iz de "1984" (Orwell) futuristic sau poate doar transpus in viitor. Efectul de "ecou" al vocii creaza impresia de sterilitate, de asta 'transpusa in viitor'. [ 2.20-2.35 � apar cateva tente de melodiozitate, poate cuvma un sunet cunoscut ... imi pare caderea unuei ape transformate in strigat 3.26-3.36 + sfarsit � vocile care fac trimitere la opera sunt niste adaugiri ingenioase. Dupa un periplu printr-o lume contorsionata,necunoscuta, ni se arunca o ancora (element acustic care poate fi recunoascut). Suntem legati de cunoscut! 2. Ready to receive A devenit melodie poveste, inca de la prima ascultare. Primele sapte secunde sunt expozitiunea, fixeaza iar un cadru fabulos al viitorului. Apoi o faptura mica incearca sa paseasca intr-un necunoscut. Fiecare pas ii tradeaza hmm existenta, curiozitatea. Apoi incepe sa ciocaneasca peretii: curioasa, avida de cunoastere. "O fii ceva acolo?" Din loc in loc sunt 'zgomotele acelea puternice" (ex: 1.02-1.12) .Momente de = Omul e supus greselii. Apoi diferite forme ale cunoasterii, experientei fapturii in decursul asimilarii necunoscutului. Un adevarat fenomen, aceasta a doua melodie. Andra Dorneanu |
| Here's the latest from this Romanian dark ambient project, starting off with the four-minute "Embodiment", made up of distant reverberated speaking behind a repetitious electronic pulse that almost sounds like some sort of subdued alarm. I'm not all that fond of this piece since the vocal work is so heavily manipulated that you can't make out any of the content at all, and the nature of the foreground sounds just isn't something that really catches my ear, so I guess it's a matter of personal taste in some ways. "Ready to Receive", the second and final track, clocks in at a massive 17+ minutes, and is stronger, though still nothing that really moves me. Opening with some reverberated percussive sounds and swells, the former of which I quite like, I'm just not really into some of these textures since the repetitious nature of these weird electronic vibrations and surges can get tiresome, and thus disturbs the more menacing nature of the distant resonations. This basic approach continues with a few minor variations for the duration of the piece, which is problematic as the composition is simply too sparse and uninteresting to hold steady for such a long period of time. It's not until the final three to four minutes of the piece, when that same percussive sound is coupled with disturbing hums of spiraling feedback, that I actually find the selection to improve greatly. The CD-R comes in a small jewel case with a black and white insert that shows a couple of knives surrounded by abstract images that I can't really decipher. It's definitely a D.I.Y. looking presentation, but that's okay, it gets the job done here. But unfortunately this is simply not as strong as the last release I heard from this project. The compositions are a bit less interesting, and while consistent, I just feel that there's not enough variety or intrigue going on to create a sense of interest. Something else to consider is that a lot of times the louder swells start to clip big time, so there are a lot of areas where that annoying little distorted crackle will start to creep in and break up the listening experience, so? I hate to be so critical, but I'm not really into this outing. Sorry. rating: 4/10 Aversionline |
