| After focusing its releases on Narkoleptik albums FIR is proud to present their first electronic compilation wich gathers fifteen Romanian bands for seventeen tracks (Mort La Creier and Infectator Com have got two tracks each). I don't know why, but at first I was waiting for a CD based on harsh sounds and industrial craziness. Fortunately COMPENDIU DE MUZICA ELECTRONICA is packed with really good material which span through the IDM, Industrial, Ambient/ Dark Ambient, Triphop, Breakbeat genres. As far as I know each band is a young one but each one has got already its own sound which for sure is influenced by bands and musical genres of the last ten years like Scorn, The Prodigy, Warp bands or so but it is a natural process, you know. Anyway, the quality of the seventeen tracks you can find into this compilation is really amazing and for sure you could find one that fits your taste. Sound production is good enough to join each band and if electronic and ambient music is your favourite genre, here you can find a lot of stuff to dig! rating: 4/5 Maurizio Pustianaz , Chain DLK I like my job. You get a glimpse into all sorts of thriving local communities from around the world that are fostering creativity in environments largely unpolluted by the trendy electronica of the US and UK, and the noisy industrial scenes of Germany and Belgium. Recently I've been given compilations of new electronics from Israel and Denmark and now this one which comes to us fresh from Romania. There's always a few tracks that don't quite cut it but generally the quality is damn fine, and this is no exception. On offer here are fifteen bands playing seventeen tracks across the breadth of (generally) chilled-out electronica, from the downbeat grooves and breaks of Mort La Creier and ElectroNVC to the glorious bombastic soundtracks of Wide Open Wings and The Beyond (not the 90s funk rock band!), and from the Empirion-meets-808-State vibe of Dome to the vast spacious drones of Narkoleptik. Surprisingly, given that the label's email address is [email protected], I was expecting something much more extreme, but in fact it's mostly pretty tasteful and restrained. One exception is Infectator Com, who also provide the only hint of Eastern Europe detectable here, a folky melody embedded in the somewhat bizarre 'Ce Simti', which sounds a bit like death metal with no guitars. I wasn't quite sold, but fans of In Slaughter Natives might dig this, as well as the industro-thrash of Discordless. Personally I was much more convinced by the lush electro-ambient sounds of E-Mantra, the old-fashioned industrial techno of Project 333, which sounds remarkably like a trademark Foetus dance remix, and particularly the ice-cold trip-hop of Julian M. and Romina V., who deliver an unsettling Jarboe-style monologue over a scratchy hip-hop groove. It sounds like a bizarre combination but it works extremely well. ABC, Auralpressure Primul contact cu label-ul FIR l-am avut prin intermediul ultimului produs Narkoleptik, recenzat cu ceva vreme in urma in paginile Metalfan. Ultima realizare aparuta sub emblema FIR (specializati in promovarea si distribuirea de muzica electronica si experimentala underground) este un produs inedit, o compilatie cu un titlul pe masura: Compendiu de muzica electronica . CD-ul contine 17 piese ce apartin unui numar de 15 artisti proveniti din cele mai obscure zone ale undergorund-ului muzicii electro sau ambient autohtone. Este interesant ca cele 15 titulaturi nu se incadreaza in aceeasi sfera stilistica, varietatea fiind benefica in cazul unei astfel de compilatii. Brakebeat, industrial, dark ambient, electro, trip hop, noise sunt doar cateva din subgenurile pe care le intalnim pe Compendiu. Cu exceptia proiectelor Telurica (in spatele caruia se afla IngerAlb), Narkoleptik si Mater Hades, celelalte nume imi erau complet necunoscute Cum personal apreciez in general produsele care au o oarecare coerenta, si care se apropie mai mult de latura electro si mai putin de zona experimentala a genului industrial/ambient, am gasit elemente interesante la Electronvc , Sebalec , E- mantra si Dome, nume sub care activeaza diversi dj. O mentiune speciala pentru amuzanta piesa Ce Simti a proiectului Infectator Com, unde poti audia un growl ultra sintetizat suprapus pe un ritm tehno industrial halucinant si aproape dansabil pe alocuri. Pe masura insa ce minutele se scurg, la fel se scurge si rabdarea pentru ca partea a doua a compilatiei contine piese nu foarte usor de asimilat si cine nu este familiarizat sau pasionat de aceste genuri muzicale cu greu isi poate stapani pornirea a apasa butonul skip sau chiar stop. Mi-a mai atras atentia spre final doar piesa Flight Over The Vast Fields , apartinand proiectului Wide Open Wings, o reusita compozitie ambientala simfonica, ce aminteste destul de pregnant de stilul Arcana. Una peste alta efortul celor de la FIR de a realiza o astfel de compilatie total neobisnuita in Romania merita apreciat si incurajat. Pentru cei care vor sa afle mai multe informatii despre FIR pot accesa pagina de net www.adresa.tk Dragos P., Metalfan "Compendiu De Muzica Electronica - FIR Vol. 1" este o introducere in muzica electronica underground romaneasca, fie ca este vorba de experimental, avangarda, noise, dark-ambient, minimal sau chiar pasaje spre trip-hop. Ideea este salutara pentru ca publicul larg poate intra contact cu formatii autohtone de gen mai putin sau deloc cunoscute, cel putin pentru mine unul, 10 din cele 15 trupe de pe aceasta colectie imi erau total inedite. Asta nu inseamna ca m-am si topit dupa toate aceste noi cunostinte, multe dintre ele n-au reusit sa-mi spuna nimic. Cele mai bune piese sunt de departe cele semnate de Infectator.com si Discordless, ambele mergand pe noise-industrial, singurele piese care pentru mine au reusit sa aiba "feeling". Urmeaza apoi Sebalec, Julian M feat. Romina V, Narkoleptik si The Beyond, primele doua fiind auditie in premiera pentru mine. Despre Narkoleptik si The Beyond va puteti face o idee mai buna citind cronicile deja existente pe pagina Dark Ro, dar trebuie sa precizez ca melodia "Sanctuar" este inedita. Electronvc si Dome nu mi-au placut absolut deloc, mi-au lasat impresia unei muzici electronice seci, nu stiu de ce dar am impresia ca ascult coloana sonora de reportaje TVR. Restul formatiilor nu m-au impresionat cu nimic, nici in bine, nici in rau, iar in final nu cred ca acest lucru e o lauda. In orice caz, citind acest review trebuie sa tineti cont de faptul ca nu sunt un mare consumator de muzica electronica, in al doilea rand ca nu exista compilatii doar cu formatii de exceptie, iar in al treilea rand piesele selectate pentru o compilatie nu sunt in totalitate reprezentative pentru artistii respectivi, cel mai bun exemplu fiind acum Narkoleptik care are si piese mai reusite decat cea de acum. Asa ca va sugerez sa o ascultati si sa va faceti o impresie personala pentru fiecare artist in parte. Compilatia se poate comanda la adresa [email protected]. Calificativ: 7/10 Ionutz, Dark Romania |
