Iridescent Eyes...written October 24th, 2003...by Kristin "Kat" Kerwell

Iridescent Eyes

This is one of the first poems I wrote. It was inspired by a crow who followed me around campus at my school. It seemed that wherever I was, he was always nearby...watching. I am not the only one who noticed it, some of my friends even questioned me about the crow.

Always there,

Ever watchful,

Peculiar guardian,

Delicate protector,

Beautiful grace,

Wings like jet,

Obsidian multiplied,

All knowing,

Omnipresent one,

Swoop and dive,

Watch me survive,

With iridescent eyes,

Beak like the night,

And your voice,

Sweet like salt,

Calls to me oft,

From high above,

Warning me,

Of dangers ahead,

On my road of life,

Circling me,

Encircling me,

With liquid energy,

Grace like the wind,

Shielding my psyche,

Beneath your wings,

Gleaming blackness,

And those lucid eyes,

Watching me always.
