Her name was Rowanne and she took him to meet her father, he was the leader of the tribe. An ageing man, glad of this settlement and proud of his daughters beauty. Inside his house men gasped at the wondrous man Rowanne had brought before them, they asked him of his kind and he told them of the wonders of the elven courts and the perfection of their towers. he asked them of their kind and they told him of the hardships of the travels and the roughness of their lives. He showed to them the ancient magic's of their people and they marvelled as he formed creatures form thin air or made the colours dance before their eyes. And they showed him their farming and who they grew their foods.
And then they showed him Iron.
The Fae knew Iron well, when they had been younger they had fought many battles with other races, including the dwarves and the stunted ones had introduced them to the bane of their kind, they had found Iron. iron that would burn and kill, Iron that was their nemesis. So Wood Hawk feared their Iron and would not enter their blacksmiths works. He merely asked Rowannes Father if he coudl return agian, it was agreed he oudl and he departed, nkowing that he coudl not stay away, his ehart was sto,len by Rowanne's beauty.
When Wood Hawk returned to the halls of the fae he was recieved wit greta honor, during the great feats tht enusedm, for which many fin beats had been brought down by the slender elven bwos and many fine wines made especially for the occasion, Wood hawk told the others if the human settlement.
He was suprised to discoevr that the Fairie's knew of the humans and horrified when they forbade him to return. the humans were without repsect they claimed, and thus we cannot deal wiht them. Wood Hawk was puzzled as the humans he had met had been such humble people, it was not until later that evening thet his brother GreyWish answered hsi questions. He explained that Shadowed Half, a member f the estemed Fae councle, it's youngest memeber uin fact, barley seven hundred years old, had ridden out and found these humans. Seeing a lesser race he rode amonst them and declared himself their lord, attempting to beguile them with fae magic. But the humans had seemed to be uimmune to his fae magics, and had laughed when he told them to whorship him as a god. And Shadowed Half had ridden away in shame, his mighty pride insulted. He ahd returned and told the tale of how the humans had nmo respect for our kind, and demanded the elves go to war with them at once. the wise voices on the council quietened him, saying that there woudl be no war with the humans, but also that no Fae would ever again deal with these disrespectufull humans.
The days past and Wood Hawk fought the urge to return, but whenever he slept his mind was filled with Rowanne, she was all he could dream of and all he coudl think of, she filled his mind and left little room for anythjing else, and whilst he tried to hunt and sing, and te of his times with the dragons, still he felt himself drawn to the edge fo the forest , hopeing he may meet some wandering hunmans, and convey a message to her.
But the days became weeks and the weeks became months, and he felt lkiek hius heart woudl break, till finally, defying the councli, he rode out of the forest of nmysteries.
He knew the punishment for breaking a rule fo the councle was severe, but he knew he must see her again. When he entered the settlement there was much astinoshment at his return, they had given up that he might ome back. But when he neared the house of the leader he was greeted by a facethat had known he would return. She smiled at him, and when he held out his hand to her she took it willingly, then with the strength of all fae, he lifted her int fornt of held ehr in his arms, and asked her to marry him. She agreed and they were married by the Leader of the tribe and togeter they mounted the elven steed, proud and tall. And together they rode back to the ahlls of the elves
