THE CASKET LOTTERY

smoke and mirrors

come sweet revenge  Just close your eyes and blame everyone.  It’s not your fault if you just play dumb.  In time…come sweet revenge.  It’s just a matter of time.  You can’t hide and you can’t run and you can’t deny what’s done.  Point the guns at the young (why don’t you just sack up and admit).  You lie just like it’s fun (you’re trading people dollars for common sense).  In time revenge will come (you get rich while they all get sick).  In time…come sweet revenge.

on the air  Turn the radio off, it’s just commercials made by stars.  Turn down the auto-tune and reveal those wounds and scars.  It’s all middle fingers and sex.  And who’s ego can hold the most.  We just hop in a broken van and we head out to the coast.  Wide-eyed and wondering how we ever got here.  Now I’m praying for a revolution on the air.  Am I wasting all my time?  Or am I proving them all wrong?  Am I wasting all my energy in these old songs?  These people aren’t even real.  They need choreographers just to breathe.  These people aren’t even real, they were raised by wolves who think of us as sheep.  Wide-eyed it’s about time I got the hell out of here.  But still I’m praying for a revolution on the air.  Don’t you care?   There are people choking out here…it’s got to stop.  We all need fresh air.  We all need fresh air.  Don’t you care?  There are people being force fed bullshit out here.  Out here we all need fresh air.  We all need fresh air.

ten years  Is this what you had in mind, or is it wrong? Is this how you planned your life, or is that gone? (I think you said it but I don’t think you meant it).  Is this what you had in mind, or is it wrong?  Then ten years between now and then.  I see you walking on down the road.  I see you walking down the wrong road.  Are your children proud?  Of their man handled mom.  Does that money leave you all alone?  I see you straddling your new boss.  Until you move on to your nest dollar.  It’s wasted…is this what you had in mind, or is it wrong?  Is this how you planned your life, or is that gone?  (I think you said it but I don’t think you meant it). Is this what you had in mind, or is it wrong?  Ten years from now and where are you?  Do you think you might still be alive?  I’ve got money down that says you won’t.  You’re a shell of a girl tonight.  Are your children proud?  Where are your children?

smoke and mirrors  After 40 years of this, the same old tired tricks.  Their approval gets him paid, their approval makes him sick.  He needs a miracle just so he can feel alive.  He wants to walk on water then turn that water into wine.  It’s all just smoke and mirrors.  It’s all inside your head.  Who would want to live like that walking around like you’re dead.  I’m a middle aged amusement park who can’t stand anything.  You need something you cannot explain to me.  “That’s it! I quit!” he screams, as he pulls up to the cliff.  It’s time to jump, not to die, he truly wants to live.  But needs a miracle just so he can stay alive.  He wants to walk across the air.  He wants to reach the other side.  It’s all just smoke and mirrors.  You’ve imagined the whole thing.  You are so in love with misery you walk around everything. You are so afraid of being content that you cant’ stand anything.  And these are ways you can’t feel anything…I know.  Hindsight’s always a little late.  It’s such a shame you couldn’t wait.  It’s all already been mapped out.   You’re so upset with how it all turns out.  But you can’t complain if you don’t just turn around right now.  What are you waiting for?   Now’s the time to finally feel alive.
