Most of the information I have currently concerns EMEB - they made use of a great variety of landrovers from standard series vehicles, to forward controls, one tons, and defenders. Some were also cherry picker vehicles. EMEB vehicles were usually hard tops with ladder racks and rear racking, or truck cabs. Some forward control series IIbs were box vans. The old EMEB district is now Central Networks and has amalgamated with MEB.Photos by Paul Pryer. |

EMEB One Ton 109" Series III. Note ladder rack and mechanical drum winch. ONV231M had a sister vehicle, ONV232M. Both were based in Northampton. |

EMEB One Ton 109" Series IIa. Note the gas canister locker on the vehicle side behind the cab doors, and the heavy load of ladders. This is one of four IIa One Tons based in Northampton, registration numbers included BNV745K and BNV746K. Note at this stage it`s still on bargrip tyres, Michelin XS tyres came later after the bagrips proved to have "interesting" handling in the wet. |
