Excellent point. I've written about the fleets of school buses that sit idle 20 hours a day because two governmental entities can't figure out a way of pooling assets to have the buses do double duty as both school buses and public transit -- or vice versa. All I get from officials is a look that says, "Well, aren't you simpleminded." I find it interesting that when I go to New Orleans on business and stay on St. Charles street, the famous streetcars are full of kids going to and from school. That suggests that it is possible to mix the two types of riders on one mode of transportation. All components of public transit need to be looked at holistically, but the bureaucrats are incapable of doing so. Cheers, Craig Cantoni
