Tiffany Maki
Vocalist
"I remember when you used to sit on top of the piano and twirl your beads!Something Tiffany Maki, vocalist for Electric Park Jazz Band, has become more than used to hearing from fans.  Even in its earliest days, Tiffany was always a part of Electric Park in one way or another.  Until she was almost 14, Gramma dressed both her and her sister, Heather, up in traditional flapper dresses, feather boas, fishnet hose, and sequins garters.
Sans flapper dress, Tiffany joined Electric Park Jazz Band as vocalist at age 18, during her senior year at Aberdeen High School.  Tiffany has played clarinet since the 5th grade, along the way taking part in the Bobcat Marching band, Blue Band and Gold Band, and on piano, becoming one of two freshman to join the elite jazz band.  After joining choir her junior year, Tiffany discovered her love of singing.  She has always admired Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Bessie Smith and Frank Sinatra and their easy styles and simple yet intricate phrasing.
As mentioned before, Tiffany is also an accomplished pianist, after studying 14 years with former EPJB member, and respected piano instructor Marilyn Redding.  A five year graduate of the well-known Sacramento Traditional Jazz Camp, Tiffany had the opportunity to study under some of the countrys best jazz musicians while attending the camp.  It was not long after that friends started calling her the "Jazz Princess."
Tiffany, soon celebrating her 23rd birthday, is currently pursuing a bachelors degree in Music Education.  After 2 and a half  years at Grays Harbor Community College, and one year at Central Washington University, she is presently taking time off from school, working at the Aberdeen Safeway, to fund her remaining time at school.  At GHC, Tiffany was the primary pianist in the jazz band, and sang alto and soprano in the jazz choir.  At CWU, Tiffany auditioned and was excepted into the schools elite jazz choir.  She was also a part of the University Chorale, and Womens Chorus.
Along with Electric Park, Tiffany recently joined the nationally recognized Aberdeen Elks National Band on clarinet. Tiffany already has her foot in the door, helping High School choir teacher and mentor, Pat Wilhelms out whenever she can.  As a result, Tiffany traveled to New York with the AHS award winning Goldenaires and performed on stage at Carnegie Hall, accompanying them on a difficult arrangement of Summertime, a piano feature.
Tiffany hopes to return to Grays Harbor to teach High School Choir after the completion of her degree.  The community of Aberdeen has watched Tiffany blossom into an accomplished musician, and all are highly anticipating what she will bring to the school districts already strong music program when she completes her education.
