Joe Lazzaro
Trumpet and Vocals
Joe hails from Cleveland, Ohio, the son of two prominent 1920-1930s vaudevillians. He graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where he received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Geology. Joe joined the military and traveled extensively playing in bands from Brussels, Belgium to Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. A highlight of his career was his four year tour of duty as an Apollo Flight Controller. He was the Procedures Officer for the moon landing missions in the control room of the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston, Texas during the 60s and 70s. After completing a distinguished 26 year career in the United States Air Force, Colonel Joe went to work for the Boeing company in Washington, DC. There, he was employed as a strategic long range planner and the company's jet fighter marketing manager. He moved West and has recently retired as a manager of Boeing's Legislative Liaison team in Seattle, WA. Joe is the proud father of four daughters.

Musically, Joe had extensive experience on the East Coast playing in ragtime and Dixieland bands, lounge acts, Souza marching bands, salsa groups, jazz ensembles and for many years led his own band, Reunion Blues. Groups he has performed with include the High Street Hijackers, The Sunshine People, Southern Comfort, the Desert City Six, the Capitol Band, Stumptown Jazz, the Anything Goes Jazz Band, the International Pirates and for the last five years has cruised the Columbia River on the Queen of the West sternwheeler with the Riverboat Jazz Band.

Joe's biggest fan is his wife Sandi (and vice versa) who is a Pacific Northwest native and a superb dancer. Her specialties are charleston, tap, and hula. The Lazzaros often entertain together at jazz festivals and with the Seattle based International Pirates. Sandi can be seen performing, giving charleston lessons, or leading a second line parade twirling an umbrella.

Joe and Sandi's hobby (and challenge) is to sample every Tiramisu recipe the Northwest has to offer and for the record, the Lazzaros spell their last name with two Zs like in pizza.
