The Pre-Ziggy Era
What happened before Ziggy arrived on David Bowie's scene? Well some people (with no taste) think that Hunky Dory was actually Bowie's best album, including the strange person who wrote Bowie's bio @ yahoo. I dissagree, but each to their own I suppose. That's the really fantastic thing about Bowie, he's done soo much that there is something there for everyone to like.

My favourite song on Hunky Dory is probably "The Bewlay Brothers," because it is one of the only songs in which Bowie is even half way honest with his lyrics. It's about his brother, who I believe died, and it is actually very scary. It starts of just sad and slowely, with gentle guitars and vocal, then it builds up. It is very beautiful in a way. Then it ends very strangely, with distorted vocals sort of singing, sort of saying "Lay me place and make me pie I'm starving for me gravy. Leave my shoes and doors unlocked I might just slip away, hey hey, just for the day, hey hey, please come away, hey hey, just for the day." And it gets quieter, and then hangs in your head after the music has stopped, and you have to listen to it again and again, and it sends you mad. Bowie is a genius. I think its known as psyco acoustics - how sounds make you think.

To the right is a picture of Bowie looking like a bit of a mod. He was once a member of a few bands, I think, but somebody punched him (I think) and he went solo. Some of his early stuff is very sixties. Like the first CD from Bowie at the Beeb. Still slightly odd and twisted though. He was not a normal child really. The guy who punched him was George Underwood, and it actually led to Bowie's most recognised feature - his strange mismatched eyes. He hsa something like a lazy pupil. Im sooo not a biologist.

Above right - the Valentine awards. Bowie was awarded Brightest Hope.

Early Bowie is not as good as later Bowie, but who cares really, when it is good music. I have not bought Space Oddity, but I do have The Man Who sold the World and Bowie @ the Beeb, and it's better than most people in the world could do.

Mr Jones, old Mrs Jones, and the new young Mrs Jones. The Wedding day. Is Iman better suited to him? She seems to be about as odd. I don't know much about Angie, but most fans don't like her poor love.
