| I have decided that John Peel is one of the koolest people around. Why? Err... It's not just the fantastic job he did of intruducing David and his band on my CD Bowie @ the Beeb. Well, maybe it is. He's just so funny. He calls things tasty! How fantastic?!!! Anyway, this isnt just a vague random thing, well it is, i have bothered finding out a bit about him. Don't ask why I bothered with him and not Radiohead, hes just the koolest. He is very old, and during the 60s he pretended to know the Beatles because it improved his ratings. He was there when JFK was shot and was at the press conference just before Lee Harvey Oswald was shot. Is that a good thing? He ws obviously in America when these things happened. He returned to England in 1967, and worked for a radio station in London as well as on the BBC, on a show called Top Gear. John was the first DJ to give exposure to punk, reggae, hip-hop, long before they crossed over into the mainstream. Almost anyone who is anyone in the world of music has recorded a session for Peel. Yes, I copied and pasted that from the BBC website. He also presents "Home Truths" for radio 4, which is slightly less kool, but still kinda kool you know. One day I'm gonna do a kool person list, for no particular reason, just feel like it. It could be kool, you know. Sorry, Ill shut up. Listen to John Peel - 10pm till mdnight tues-thurs BBC radio 1! go on, you know you want to! I will send him in a demo one day, he plays them you know, and tells everyone when your gigs are etc. Either he has the largest taste of music in the world or he really does not listen to anything he plays. Which do you think is most likely? |
