| E-Learning enjoys a promising future in India as we are at the threshold of experimenting with new and fast ways of delivering knowledge to the remotest parts of the country. Initiatives like Edusat and Broadband Internet access have increased the opportunities for people to learn through e-Learning mode. However, the rapid acceptance of e-Learning and other technology driven educational initiatives do not find a similar enthusiastic response in preparing professionals to accept the challenges of content development of this medium. The dearth of professionals in the area is evident from the fact that our courses score low in course design and user-friendliness. Often, this results in killing the motivation of learners to continue learning and considerably adds to the dropout rate. The need of the hour is to train more professionals who can create or transform existing content into a format that suits e-Learning. This can be achieved with proper emphasis on formal education and guidance and help in the form of sharing of professional knowledge and expertise, in addition to familiarity with models and methodologies. |
