May 18-21, 2003 I finally was able to get some pics up. Unfortunately I didn't have access to photoshop so I couldn't crop or edit them for quality so they look a little grainy in the compression. I started working at the school on tuesday. I worked 6 hours and then I went to another school and taught for 3 hours (most of which was spent asking the Chinese teachers about how to say stuff.) The top picture is a little girl named Dohyun. She was so cute I had to take a picture of her (and her leaking drink box.) I got a picture when Sunhang and I went and ate Samkyubsal too. It looks pretty good raw, but it looks even better cooked. Walking along in Hongsung I passed this dog that kept smiling at me and begging me to play with him. I stopped and took a picture. It looks better full sized, but I don't have a way to show you. It's been pretty fun teaching english. I didn't imagine it would be fun at all, but it's fun playing and talking with the kids. I've finally got settled in and unpacked. The house I am staying is just up the street from where I lived when I was a missionary here. I will try to get more pics up later. I have to go to bed because I have to wake up pretty early to go and judge a speech contest or something. I just wanted to tell Tyler I enjoyed the pics on his site (and Kyle that I enjoyed his in my e-mail. Hope you guys aren't having any fun without me. Talk to you all later. Hrrrrrmmmmmpphhhhhh out!

May 14-17, 2003 I am sure my schedule is a little bit off since my an entire day was wasted riding airplanes and crossing the international dateline. I saw the Matrix Reloaded on Wednesday night before leaving. It was an interesting adventure. I was more interested in Talking with Tyler and Kyle about their trip than I was about watching the movie and in fact they were probably more interested in sleeping than doing either of the other two things. The movie was alright. I am, and will always be impressed by the things they accomplish on the special effects front. The acting, however, seemed extremely cheesy (which is saying something since I saw it in the middle of the night and it caught my attention.) I swear if the movie ends where Zion itself is in another Matrix and you are left to wonder if they are free or not, or whether or not they are in another Matrix, I will hate it for being predictable. I loved that you didn't know what was going on in the first, but if they lose the originality they might just lose me (I am sure they are concerned about that too.) The trip was alright. I met 4 or 5 people who were just willing to talk about a variety of things. A couple girls gave me their number and told me to call them if I wanted to go drinking in Seoul. I laughed and laughed. I guess all you have to do to get girls to chase you is not sleep, not shower, and be in San Fransisco. Getting ice cream at the train station I had another funny experience. The girl at the counter kept asking me if I wanted a cone. Without making a complete sentence though, Cone with the honorific ending Yo sounds suspiciousally like a spanish word we use sometimes. I couldn't stop laughing again. Sadly no one understood that spanish joke but me and the girl looked at me like I was crazy. I tried to get some pics off my camera for this post, but the computer here at the PC Bang in HongSung, where I stopped on the way to Kunsan, is giving me grief. I will for sure post some when I get to a more semi-premanent location where I can figure out the problem. Keep me up to date with what is going on back at home. I was delighted to hear the Lakers had lost in E-mails from Tyler and Kyle. I guess the NBA realized everyone knew they were trying to give it to them and we weren't down with it. It kind of makes you question all those people who says WWE isn't a sport because it's fake... no one questions whether the NBA is a sport or not and yet everyone agreed it was pretty much scripted for the Lakers to fulfill the cinderalla dream and get 4 in a row. Let's support WWE in it's bid for sporthood!

May 13, 2003 Today was another busy day. It's funny that days before I leave I am doing more with my time than I have done in a long time. Yesterday I went hiking and hung out with Sloan and today I went to Temple Square with Hang. I haven't really ever been there before today. I have gone to sing in high school or to meet people to go elsewhere, but this was the first time I ever just went to go. We went to some art museum across the street that featured a lot of antique stuff from the church's history in addition to paintings depicting the pioneers, Christ, apostles, and other random things that were just created by members. I took a lot of pictures, but the lighting was poor and the flash made it difficult to get anything to turn out right. I was able to get a few decent shots by turning away to the side to avoid getting my flash back in my face. Hang wanted the tour from two sister missionaries, one of whom was Korean. It was pretty interesting to hear the girl recite the history in Korean. She used a lot of "church words" as I like to call 'em, or words only missionaries and people in the church use. I was surprized I remembered all of them (since I don't really use them anymore) and how odd it made me feel to be hearing them in America surrounded by three girls, wearing shorts. They prompted us to give refferals at the end of the tour for missionaries to visit or to send a video to. I told them they should send a video to my mom. I hope she likes it! We also went on top of the conference center and took pictures. It is the first time I have ever been on top since they closed the roof shortly after I got home because some child fell. It is awesome some of the things they have done on top, and surprizingly and refreshingly natural. The plants, flowers, and grasses, although obviously transplanted to their current location, have been allowed to grow pretty much unhindered by gardening or landscaping and really give it a feel of a mountain meadow. It is in stark contrast to the manicured gardens of Temple Square, although both pretty in their own right. I got to Jeff's late because riding Trax took longer than I expected, but the recorded "Smallville for me," and just let me say... Clark, apologies about last week's post. You're the man.
