I woke up this morning and spent the majority of the morning de-winterizing our swamp cooler.  I wanted to take pictures from the roof.  I am a wimp when it comes to climbing up the ladder to the roof, but one thing I enjoy once I am up there is the change of scenery.  It's always amazing to me how things I have looked at for 22 years now can look so different from just a slightly different perspective.  Adam and Greg stopped by while I was on the roof and I hurried and finished and we picked up Jared and went to see "X2: X-Men United" again.  It was pretty cool the second time, although I started to get a little anxious at the end because I knew what was going to happen. Then we went to the mall and ate at the food court.  After that we went to the church near our house to play some basketball on the newly varnished floor.  It was fun to play around for a little while.  I was still a little sore from playing dunk ball yesterday, but it was fun just the same.  I came home and showered and found myself going over to Jeff's house to watch "Smallville."  This episode was all about Lana, just like I am all about Lana.  She was looking good and constantly appearing through out tonight's episode.  If you saw the ending though you have to wonder... what are you waiting for Clark?  I mean honestly does the man need an invitation?  I would have hit with so much less to go on, he's either gay or a bigger wimp than Jared. (P.S. Jared did I see you do a drive by on the way home?

One of the downsides about having a "blog" is it requires a lot of time.  This is not simply because you have to update your own "blog," but is coupled with the curiousity to read others' as well (Yes, even people that  you don't really know.)  Through Sloan's site I found a site by a girl known only as Llew to me.  I enjoy reading some of the things she says (although a lot of it must be some sort of female jargon that I am oblivious to.  I recognize all of the words she uses, but sometimes her meaning is lost on me... alright I admitted it I don't know something, see how much I am growing up?)  She talked about her attraction to one author, Shel Silverstein, who I recall from elementary school.  One visitor's comments talked about a poem Shelly boy had written about rolling a joint, and I was so intrigued I spent the rest of the afternoon researching the life of this man, who I had previously thought ceased to have any relationship to me over 15 years ago.  I was simultaneously aghast and pleased to discover that in addition to being a children's author, he was also a song writer and an adult comics artist for Playboy. I went through and laughed at his sarcastic and cynical view of life as portrayed by the comics.  They weren't much of a shock to a young adult living in the 21st century, but I can see how they would have made people blush 50 years ago.  Here's to Shel Silverstein! A hero as a child and kindred spirit as an adult... may sarcasm live on!  (This was one of my favorite cartoons among those I found and I thought I would share it with all of you.)

I spent the majority of the day doing homework, C'est la vie... eh?  Had an enjoyable chat online with Jeff's little sister, Emily, for a little while and came to the realization I would have to go over there to finish my paper because my copy of "Remember the Titans," wouldn't work.  Ended up getting sucked into the Alias season finale (which I never watch unless I am over there on a Sunday night) and now I am left wondering what is going to happen and feeling like I need to watch it next season.  So much for watching season finales huh?  The best and most addictive shows in television.  Jeff, Jared, and I watched "Kung Pow: Enter the Fist," later on... and it was a delve into the mindless.  What's worse than that?  I laughed 'til I cried nearly three times.  According to the research dealing with stress I am better off for my laughter, but somehow my mind feels weaker, more prone to idiotic humor, and almost craving to see it again. Does that make me bad? gwegh!

Today I woke up pretty early to orchestrate going to Provo.  After calling Sloan, Adam, Jeff, Sam, and Hang I finally got on the road heading south.  My car was acting up, losing power and the RPM's were through the roof as if it was having trouble shifting.  I guess it's only a matter of time before my transmission goes out completely.  We were driving in the carpool lane at about 75 mph and this car full of old people from Idaho swerves around me signaling me to get over and out of the carpool lane.  When did carpool translate into super-fast lane?  Anyway they upset me... I made several gestures (mostly obscene) at them as I tried to chase them down.  My car got up to about 90 mph as we were heading through Sandy when a highway patrol car pulled on and I was forced to slow down.  The highlight of the experience was my car was still able to hit 90 mph with 4 people in the car, the downside is if I had caught up to them Sam promised to give them the pressed ham against the window.  We picked up Hang and ate some Korean food at Samhak (»ïÇÐ,) the korean restaurant in Provo.  Hang seemed to enjoy it and wanted to go to temple square, but unfortunately we ended up planning to do it another day.  My car made it all the way home without any problems in part to the faith of my passengers who assured me it was going to make it home.  It didn't lose power once or have trouble shifting and I was able to maintain 80 mph all the way home.  Everyone fell asleep, which is what I felt like doing too.  When I got home I took my nap and then went to Jeff's and had a movie marathon as we watched the "Greatest hit of Chris Farley," "Undercover Brother," and "Summer Catch."  I loved watching Chris Farley, but the other two movies were largely lame.  They each had a couple redeeming lines that I plan to use at a future time, but I won't watch them again.  We still have "Kung Pow: Enter the Fist," to watch, but that will have to wait until Tuesday or Monday probably.  Kyle sent me some pics from their trip too, this one is Tyler using the public facilities in Amsterdam.

I have heard a lot of complaints that I haven't been slacking off lately.  It could be that I have been slacking off... or it could be that almost nothing of consequence has happened in my life this week.  I did see "X2: X-Men United" yesterday.  The first 20 minutes was sweet.  I was spell bound watching NightCrawler kick every secret service agents' arse.  That was definitely the highlight of the movie, although the rest was not bad. (Including the introduction of Collosus, a hot asian, and more extensive use of mutant powers)  I can't decide still if it was because it was really good, or if the arousal from the extended Matrix trailer primed me to like it, or if because there hasn't been a decent movie released in months.  We'll see here in a couple weeks when the Matrix comes out I guess.  (The other pic is a Gas Station we found in Toole the day of the funeral, they really know how to get truck drivers to stop.  The guy just went ape shee on his van with his fist, it looks like he lost from his demeanor.)
