April 18, 2003 I met up with Sloan and Haeahn today in Salt Lake (picture courtesy of Sloan.) I don't go there much and it was like an eye opening experience. I saw all kinds of people that I haven't seen since quitting work. I wore shorts and froze my butt off walking from where I parked to Temple Square to meet them. We had some Chinese food and then Haeahn had to take off so Mike and I went to the Gateway mall a few blocks away and had hot chocolate and sat and talked. The next thing I know I am asking him what time it is and I realize I had been there for about 4 hours talking. It was good talking, I always enjoy the conversations you leave where you feel like you have gained something or that it was worth your time. We reminisced a lot (which tends to happen with people who shared a lot of experiences, I think) and talked about the world today, technology, and a variety of other things. Eventually I found my way back to my car and drove home. About an hour or so later after I talked to Kyle we all went up to the Dee Events Center and played a little 4 on 4 tournament with 3 teams until after midnight. Kyle took a pretty hard slide at midcourt and pulled the skin off his hand... I tried to get him to peel the skin back so I could take a picture and he said it hurt too bad... what a baby.

April 17, 2003 Two roads diverged in a yellow wood... or maybe it wasn't a yellow wood, or any wood at all, it could have even been near a pig farm in the middle of nowhere. I drove out to a spot, where I used to go and think, yesterday. I haven't been out there since I have been home... I am not sure whether that's an indication that I do less thinking or I have less time for myself, but either way it's kind of sad. They paved the road that was once dirt, but as you can tell from the pictures no one uses it still and in fact I parked in the middle of the road for 20 minutes and didn't see another car or person the entire time. If I ever pick up thinking again at least I know my spot is safe. Where do other people go when they want to think I wonder?

April 16, 2003 I didn't make it to school today... so much for moral victories. I stayed home and talked with Sunhang, Jeff, Sloan, and Wilson on the computer. That's probably more productive than any school day would have been anyway. I took a drive later this afternoon when I woke up. I drove around a while and saw Jeff working on the side of the road on my way back from Antelope Island. I took a lot of pictures, which was probably my main reason for taking the drive anyway. I will save some of them and put them on when I have nothing else to talk about, but this one had to go on today. Do Not Hump the railcars!!!!! In case any of you had any sick fetishes inclining you to large metal barrels on wheels I thought this would be for you. To be honest I was perplexed by this statement so I went to Webster for the answer. hump 1 often vulgar : to copulate with 2 : to exert (oneself) vigorously 3 : to make humpbacked : HUNCH 4 chiefly British : to put or carry on the back : LUG; also : TRANSPORT I assume we all knew the first definition, but did you know that hump could be used in 3 different, but entirely correct ways? I assume our rail car is making reference to number 4, but who can say for sure?

April 14-15, 2003 Nothing out of the usual. I managed to make it to school both Monday and Tuesday which I mark up as a moral triumph for me (or at least I would if I had morals.) My camera finally came today and as lame as it was I decided I needed to take a picture and put it on here. I am going to be carrying it with me so I can get many more pictures with which to bore everyone. A girl in one of my classes at school said she decided to go to Korea to teach english for 6 months because of all the positive things I have said about it (I probably should have been more impartial... heaven knows I never had a problem being negative about it when I was there.) I think it was SARS in the end that sent her to Korea instead of Taiwan or Hong Kong though, so I don't shoulder all of the blame. It reminded me that I need to start studying Korean again. I opened the Korean study books that I bought this last winter in Seoul and decided I needed to start studying again this summer. (and it was my lame excuse to put a picture I took with my new camera on here.)

April 11-13, 2003 Friday afternoon I went golfing with Greg and Adam at Swan Lakes. I shot a 56, which I don't need to tell most of you is not a great score for 9 holes. I did have a pretty shot on the 8th, however, where I pulled out my magic 4 wood and cleared it over the pond and landed about 10 feet short of the hole. Then we went to Jeff's house and played some Halo. Greg left to go to a concert for Aaron's birthday. Adam, Jeff, and I watched the "Otherside of Heaven" about some missionary in Tonga. It was a pretty good show, not lame like a bunch of other movies put out by mormons I have seen. Saturday Greg, Aaron, Brian and I played some basketball and then later Adam and I went over to Jeff's to play some more Halo and watched "Reign of Fire." We had a debate about classy movies that have some special effects that just look like crap and crappy movies that somehow manage to keep it realistic (Reign of Fire being the latter.) We criticized movies like, yes I hate to admit it, "Fellowship of the Ring" and "Two Towers" for being great films and having segments that totally looked fake in a day in age when that shouldn't happen(IE: Running through the mines of Moria, and when Gandolf rides the eagle away.) My neice and nephews also came over and we colored easter eggs, blew bubbles, and just messed around. It was good to see them. I am enjoying them more and more since I don't have to live with them(Not to the point where I want kids of my own, but enjoying them more just the same.)
