For of Such is the Kingdom of God
June 6, 2004 --

Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever.

Alma 26:12

Four months have passed since my last entry. Except for the couple of you who live nearby, I have no idea how any of you are doing. I hope this message finds you in good health and good fortune.

As for myself, the last few months of been full of good, bad and exciting. I've actually been on a couple of dates for the first time since I've been home, and I feel like Father is happy with me for finally putting some real effort into that part of my life. I hope he blesses me soon with a companion to share time and eternity with.

I've finally decided to stop following my old Book of Mormon study schedule. I will, of course, continue to study, but now I will follow my own needs and inspiration as to how I should be studying. I have felt the need for this change for some time, but I guess I wasn't willing to let go of my crutch just yet.:)

My new study method will find me again following the Book of Mormon in sequence from beginning to end, but without the set amount of chapters to cover each day. I will still spend about a half hour (more on those days when I can do more), but I want to do more cross-referencing with the Bible and other scriptures, so I can really understand what I am reading and put it into the proper context. I also plan to be taking detailed notes, which I haven't been doing for several months now.

As for my family, things are slowly looking up. My sister Carrie moved out late last year, and has found a new sense of responsibility as well as a better relationship with my mother. My mother has changed jobs; she used to work for a small, private law firm, but now works in the Federal Public Defender's office. She makes more money for fewer responsibilities, is treated with far more respect, and has a nice retirement plan.

My little brother Daniel will be starting high school next year, so hopefully he can keep a close eye on my sister Staci, who turned 16 and has started dating. My brother Jason, who is closest to my age, finally got the job he has been wanting for months -- that being any job other than the one he had.;)

My brother David, who has probably been the most troubled of my family, moved in with girlfriend last year. That has saddened us, of course, but she is a wonderful young woman and we hope to see them married sometime soon (fingers crossed on that one).

As for myself, I'm still living at home, still working at Wells Fargo, and still attending PSU. I'm going to take the summer off from school so I can work fulltime and earn the money I need to buy the graphic design software I need to finish the website my friend Scott and I have been working on, as well as begin work and a magazine connected with the site.

Whew! Life is busy, but good. I'm very glad this quarter is ending at school, because the stress was horrible. Part of taking this summer off is just for my own emotional well-being.

I've said it many times before, but I'll say again that I hope to become more regular in my updates of this site and keeping everyone up to date on my life. I hope to hear from some of you as well.

Michael
