And behold, all that he requires of you is to keep his commandments; and he has promised you that if ye would keep his commandments ye should prosper in the land; and he never doth vary from that which he hath said; therefore, if ye do keep his commandments he doth bless you and prosper you.

Mosiah 2:22

Today is one of those days where I'm having trouble starting this page. I have so many experiences I could communicate, but no idea what I should say or how.

I went on a rafting trip over the weekend (pictures coming soon). Although I still have trouble in groups and social situations, I was largely impressed at how content I felt. At one moment in particular, I was standing on the shore, watching people float down a relatively calm part of the river, and realized that I could honestly say that I was enjoying myself, and was happy. That's never been something easy for me to achieve, and so had a great impact on me.

The next day (Sunday), I decided to spend time pondering my life again, and planning for the future. I realized quickly that the future is very big, and I cannot plan for all of it at once. I've turned to my patricarchal blessing for guidance, and decided that first I must be sure to live up to its counsels before I take on any more. Most of what I want as far as educational, vocational, social, and Gospel-related areas are concerned are already promised blessings to me -- in my mind, it makes sense then to focus less on trying to make blessings happen and more on simply doing to the Lord's will and trusting that what He has promised will follow. I'm still pondering that idea, and I know that there is probably more that I also need to do, so I'll have to get back to everyone about that next week.

That's about all I've got to say. That, and read your scriptures. Every day. You have no idea what strength it gives to you until you miss a day.

Michael
