I've been informed that last week was not the only time I've been vague on this
page, and that sometimes I leave people wondering what is really happening in my
life. While I can (and will) definitely try to add more information about my
week, I also want to explain why sometimes I don't write what I'd like
to.
You may remember that in the scriptures there are many times when the Lord
performed a miracle or revealed a great truth, then charged those who had
witnessed it that they should tell no man what the Lord had done for them (see
Matt.8:1-4; Mark 7:32-36; Mark 8:22-30, etc.). The prophets have said that there
are times in our lives that are similar; when a spiritual experience is meant to
be kept private or revealed to others only when prompted to do so by the Spirit.
There have been times when I came to this page with full intentions of telling
all of you about some small miracle in my life, only to find that the words
wouldn't come when I tried to type them. Sometimes I can't share everything, but
I do try to share as much as is appropriate.
However, there are some things in my life that I can share, but I guess I don't
think to because they seem so mundane and unimportant. Maybe there is more
importance in the day-to-day aspects of life than I give credit for.
This week I have been hard at work trying to catch up in my classes. I missed a
day early in the quarter because I was sick, then the next week I was on vacation
from work, and I slacked off. Now I'm paying for it, but I'm not very far behind
anymore. From here out, most of my classes will be giving me lots of time to work
on final projects -- that's very helpful.
On June 7th is the Grand Floral Parade, the first parade of the annual Rose
Festival (Portland is the City of Roses, you know). The floats for the parade are
made with wire frame, but every part of them has to be covered either by a flower
or flower petals. Wells Fargo (where I'm working right now, for those who might
not know) has a float in the parade, and I might get the chance to be on it.
There was a small contest, consisting of simply writing in a 50-word essay about
how art has touched your life. The winner and a guest go on the float. If I win,
I already know who I'd like my guest to be, if she happens to be in town that
weekend.
I mentioned last week that I had an inflammation in my lungs. It started almost a
month ago, and progressively worsened until it hurt to breathe. My doctor put me on
anti-inflammatories, but the medicine made me sick to my stomach. Finally, last
Monday, I came home from work early, called my Grandfather, and had him and my
brother administer a blessing. I'm sorry to say it took so long for me to go to
the Lord for healing, but the healing came, and as of today I feel fine. I
probably would have healed a lot quicker if I had just gone to the Lord to begin
with, but I guess I'll just have to remember that for next time...
Well, that's about it for today. I hope everyone is enjoying the 3-day weekend
and that the day finds you all happy and well. I check my e-mail every day if
anyone wants to write me (although, as my friend Scott can attest, I sometimes
take a little while to reply). Have a great week, and I'll tell you how mine went
next Monday.
