Congratulations to David and Betsy! From what I gather from the
letter I received, they got a son named Charlie.
Things are going really well in Winona. I was able to go on exchanges
there on Friday. They've gotten 10 new investigators this week! I
hear their total is up to 19. It was great to see familiar faces
again. I'm pretty excited for what's going on down there.
While I was on exchanges, we had some good things happen in Houston,
too. Elder Gregory was able to get two new investigators, and also
was able to meet with David Shelby. Elder Gregory tried to set up a
baptismal date with him, and told him that he ought to have some sort
of goal to work towards. David agreed, grabbed a calendar, and,
allowing himself to miss church 1 week, set his baptismal date for
Feb 17th. Elder Gregory said it was the easiest baptismal date he
ever set on his mission.
Not only that, but David is still on-target for his baptismal date.
He came to church yesterday, and had a pretty good time. Quite a few
people came up and introduced themselves, which I was grateful for,
and we had a sweet Gospel Essentials lesson (which I gave, but it was
the discussion part that was pretty sweet). All David needs to do is
quit smoking and drinking coffee in the next 4 weeks or so, and he'll
be good. He has to quit smoking slowly, as he has a heart valve
condition that, given the stress of quitting smoking too quickly, he
wouldn't do too well. But he's doing incredibly well spiritually, and
it seems like he has no desire to move backward. At the very least,
he won't be going back to the Druid church.
So, our toilet broke. We've been heading out to the church over the
weekend to relieve ourselves of some burdens. Supposedly there should
be a plumbing guy that'll be fixing it today.
I can't think of anything more to say, other than Nick and Liz should
write me.
Talk to ya next week!
