Christmas Eve. I'm writing from Brother Green's office, as the
library is closed. Elder Gregory needed to check his e-mail to find
out when to call his parents. I dunno why last week's letter didn't
work, but luckily I type up my letters in notepad, save them on my
flash drive, and then send them off, so I've resent Dec 17th's letter.
Thanks to Mom's letter, I now have an idea what one of my presents
are. When the UPS guy came and gave me my package, I took it, and put
it under my arm, and closed the door with my other arm. I noticed it
started mooing. I thought to myself: what did Mom send me now? Now I
know: "a toy cow or pig that [goes] off and [gives] candy out the
bottom," since that's what she gave to her siblings. Something Mom
would give me....
It sounds like no one is going to be down for Christmas. Betsy and
David sent me a letter, telling me that they probably weren't going
to be going down.
We might get some snow/rain tomorrow. Yesterday it was windy, sunny,
and cold...about like a Price winter. It's been pretty warm
lately--Wednesday was about 60's or so.
We had an awsome time in Winona on Wednesday. We watched "Between
Heaven and Earth" with Cora Blair, and she really enjoyed it. We also
taught the Plan of Salvation to Scott and Karen, and they agreed with
everything. Until we taught them the Kingdoms of Glory. They pointed
out that they weren't taught this. I replied that it is a unique
teaching of our Church, that there are three Kingdoms of Glory, or
three "heavens," you might say. This remark obviously made them think
a little, judging by the expressions on their faces, and then I had
them turn to 2 Corinthians 12:2, where Paul speaks of a "third
heaven." They were totally astouned with that! Here we were, talking
about 3 heavens, which no one else is, and there's the Bible, telling
them the same thing! It reminded me way back in Fort Smith, when we
were teaching Bob Owens, and Elder Morrill taught about Kingdoms of
Glory, and Bob was astounded that he had read a verse of scripture
several times, but suddenly it stood out to him. I'm expecting them
to be baptized. They're planning on going to Church next Sunday.
Apparently they've had some flak from the community for meeting with
us, as they said that now they could teach others a thing or two.
We're also getting some good stuff happening here in Houston. We
taught a Erin McConnley again (male), and met his wife Isabel, who
was almost baptized, but her parents were against it. Erin had been
reading the Book of Mormon, and hadn't found anything wrong with it
while comparing it to the Bible. We watched "The Restoration" with
him. It appears that authority may be the issue with him, as he was a
minister for a few years, but so far he has no complaints against us.
We also taught David Shelby, who has a girlfriend, and related to her
that we are the only Church that has the authority to perform
baptism. So, he's coming along. It sounds like his girlfriend may be
interested, and there's a member at church that knows David's
girlfriend, so we've got some instant fellowshipping now!
This Saturday I'll find out what is going on in the way of transfers.
I might stay here, I might go to Winona, I might go somewhere else. I
dunno what'll happen. We'll see. I'll let you know in a week.
Anyway, sorry I was unable to send out everyone a Christmas card with
a big "Thanks" written in them, so consider this as it's replacement:
Thank you all for everything you've done for me. Merry Christmas!
