Elder Bradshaw's Blog
Elder Bradshaw's Blog. (Letters sent to home.)
October 9, 2007

I saw all of conference. I did nothing Saturday - studies in the
morning, then the Morning Session, then lunch with members, then the
Afternoon Session, then lunch with members, then the Priesthood
Session, then back home. We had to leave pretty much immediately,
because we were expecting transfer calls. They didn't come until this
morning. I'm getting transferred to Houston, Missouri. I'm going to
be sending a package home of stuff that I don't need anymore - like 6
months of letters, almost a year of Missionary Daily Planners, etc. I
might end up sending more of my Marshallese stuff later. I'm leaving
Elder Kaneko with most of my Marshallese supplies.

I doubt anyone was expecting Elder Eyring to become 2nd Counselor,
but it's a good choice, in my opinion (but then, who of the 12
wouldn't be?). Conference was amazing. It gets better every time. I
bet every missionary loved Elder Holland's talk. Here in Springdale,
we laughed during much of it, simply because it was an awsome bashing
against the false doctrine of the Trinity. I like what he said about
the supposed incomprehensibility of God in the Nicean creed (and all
of it's derivatives): "We declare that [it is] exactly that:
incomprehensible."

I wept during Elder Worthlin's talk. To me, he was the embodiment of
his talk. He suffered through pain, anguish, and potential public
humiliation because of his love for the Lord, and his love for
others. It will be seared into my mind for at the very least a long
while. Absolutely no one can say that he is not a man of courage,
worldly or not. And I doubt many "men" of the world would even be
willing to do such a thing for what they believe in.

Some news about Ashley Thompson: somehow, her husband got her in
jail. She was able to be bailed out by her mom, and now she's
divorcing him, and charging him with abuse. Apparently he was being
watched by the police because they know his cousins are drug dealers.
He's got himself in to a really big pickle. Ashley says they've
revoked all of his past bail bonds, which numbers 15. He also might
be charged with the death of their 7-week old son (apparently, he may
be [possibly accidentally] responsible, but they're investigating
it). She's moving to her mom's house, just a bit out of Springdale
(Spring Valley, to the southeast, if you really want to find it on a
map), and the missionaries will be teaching her there. She's doing
really well now. She just needs to get her stuff out of her apartment
by Tuesday, and stop smoking.

Well, I'll let you all know next week my new address. Rock on until then!
