Entry for September 18, 2007
How did I like training a newbie? That's enough for an analysis that

would not be able to fit here, and will not be included. Short

answer: it was okay. Honestly, I still don't think I'm a very good

trainer.

We had four investigators attend church: Jamode and Wanita, Hannah

Kaminaga, and Terry. I'm not sure about Terry's situation, but all

the others need to get married before they're baptized. Jamode and

Wantia are scheduled to be baptized on the 29th, but they need to get

a) a marriage license, b) get married, and c) get a baptismal

interview. We can help them with everything except for "a)."

We're teaching a lot of people, but they're not coming to church. I'm

not sure what to do about it. And the Marshallese typically don't

have that high of paying jobs, and they don't know how to use their

money, so they have difficulty being able to pay for a marriage

license. I dunno what to do about that, either. But, we'll keep on

working.

Unless we get sick of course, which Elder Kaneko and I ended up doing

this week. I got a 1-day stomach flu Tuesday morning. I ended up

flushing my dinner down the toilet, and felt nauseated unless I slept

on my side. Later in the day, the nausea left, but my muscles ached,

and I got a headache. I felt better Wednesday, but my stomach is

still a bit weak. Sadly, it might take me for a while to be able to

eat some things again. I'd been craving fresh pineapple, so I bought

one on Monday, got sick on Tuesday, and now I don't find it

appealing. Elder Kaneko got a cold, which peaked on Thursday, and he

ended up sleeping all morning. We taught a bunch of lessons, but our

OTMs were way down.

Tomorrow we go to Rogers. One of the quorum of the 70 is doing a

mission tour. Luckily, not only will we be able to hear from a

general authority, but we'll be able to stop by Andy's and get some

frozen custard. It's also situated across the street from the first

Wal-Mart. And then on Saturday we have interviews with President Seal.

Today we're going to TJ Maxx in Fayetteville (with permission from

the Zone Leaders, of course) to buy some ties. I was able to buy a

good one at 1/2 and 1/2 a couple weeks ago.

Anyway, I'd better get going. As a heads up, the 8th of October is

Columbus Day, which if I recall correctly is a national holiday, so I

may not be able to do any e-mail that day. See you all later!
