I don't know if I'll be able to visit Darrin and Mandy's family blog.
I'll have to ask President or Sister Seal. Luckily, Zone Conference
is this Saturday, so I'll probably know by next Preparation Day.
In the way of the work, one of our Marshallese investigators, Amlain,
agreed to be baptized. But she didn't come to church this Sunday. We
got another zero investigators at sacrament meeting.
But I do expect to have one next week. Her name is Ashley. We were
with Brother Sedrick, going to visit a member that he home-teaches.
But the empty apartment implied that they had moved out. Just as we
were getting back into the car, Ashley, who talked briefly to the
Spanish Elders, came up with her daughter and asked us if we had a
phone we could use. It appears that her husband is having a difficult
time dealing with the death of their 7-week old son back in December,
and he had gone off with the car. We took her down to Fayetteville to
his friends apartment where she said he usually took off to. She
asked us to pick her up for church when she left, but I ended up
writing down the wrong apartment number.
Brother Sedrick decided to go visit her after church, and I asked if
Elder Albert and I could go with him, to which he agreed. Apparently
we got there just in time: she had been gone all morning with her
mother, and she had just gotten back home to find her husband gone,
her keys missing, but her car still there. So we took her back to
Fayetteville, and brought her, her husband, and her daughter back
home. I was able to set an appointment with them for Wednesday. All I
can say is that I think something will happen, because we happen to
be in the right place at the right time, twice.
Not much more to say. This week seems to have flown by. Last Sunday
all of the Elders from Utah, and Elder Valai-Tufuga, gave talks in
the English sacrament meeting. This week, we were able to teach the
ward about Preach My Gospel and how to do missionary work in a
combined Priesthood-Relief Society-Youth meeting. Apparently it went
pretty well. I hope that means that we'll be getting more member
referrals. Honestly, I'd rather get member referrals than be fed by
the members, because I can always buy more Top Ramen, but 60% of all
baptisms come from member referrals.
Anyway, that's about it from this end. I hear the new Transformers
movie is way good, so go watch it. Let me know how Bourne Ultimatum
is! See you next week!
