"After all, no matter where you go, there you are." Sounds like Mom
has been watching The Adventures of Buckaroo Banazi. If not, she
needs to. It's quite a hilarious, cheezy science fiction film.
Anyway, it looks like President Seal is trying to save money by
having missionaries live with members. Elder Valai-Tufuga and his
fresh-new companion Elder Greer are living way out in Tonitown (about
10 minutes away--by car) with the Nowlins (pronounced No-lynns). I
don't think we'll be moving into any members homes soon, considering
we have a lease, and Bishop Lieutard called 83 families to try and
find someone to house the missionaries. Sometimes it's pretty tough
to stay focused with four elders in one apartment, and two that visit
nearly every day. It's almost like college, and sometimes it drives
me nuts, because I can't just go to my room and sleep for the rest of
the day. Ah well. I'm just one week shy of being 1/3 through my
mission.
So Elder Albert is almost the complete opposite of Elder Kaneko: shy,
doesn't speak much English, but he is short. I'm trying to help him
the best I can, but I have no idea what to do.
I hate sowing. Now that Elder Albert is here and I'm back to doing
Marshallese, I don't really have anyone to teach. We spent a few
hours knocking on doors on Friday after he got here. But we at least
taught a new investigator last night. Too early at this point to say
where things will go, though. But, I gotta plant those seeds.
Thanks for the birthday stuff. I don't know if anyone here will know
that it's my birthday. Besides, I've gotta work. All day. In the
awful humidity and heat, and sometimes the rain. In the middle of
tornado season. This humidity is killing me. I end up getting
drenched in sweat. It's a good thing I bought some handkerchiefs,
because otherwise I'd be drenched in sweat. I forgot to take it with
me on Saturday when we were on bikes, and I ended up getting sweat in
my eyes.
I'm not sure if my bike is going to last another 4.5 months, but I'm
going to get every last mile that I can out of that bike. Then I'll
use it for spare parts. If it can last until October, then I'll just
by another cheapo Wal-mart bike, and use that for another year, so
that I don't have to worry about bringing a bike home.
I don't know much more of what to say. Not much is going on with my
portion of the work, because I basically just got a new field. I'm
trying to weed. Hopefully I'll be able to find some good ground to
plant a few seeds.
That's all I have. Oh: Happy Birthday to Becky, Heather Fausset, and
Happy Anniversary to Nick and Liz, and David and Betsy. If I forgot
anything else, Happy Birthday, or Congratulations, or Whatever.
See you all next week!
