Elder Bradshaw's Blog. (Letters sent to home.)
Entry for April 9, 2007
Easter wasn't much of one, except for the realization of how real the
Atonement is, which really made my day. I haven't received your
Easter package yet. But don't send me a DVD player. We don't even
have a TV. We're not allowed to have a TV. Or a DVD player. Otherwise
we'd decide to sit in the apartment and watch movies, using the fact
that they're church movies as a means of justification, or rather
rationalization, that it is okay to watch them rather than to go
proselyting. The reason I requested Special Witnesses of Christ is
because we decalre that there is a prophet on the earth today, but a
lot of people have never heard of this, nor of President Hinkley, so
I though it would be a good idea to get a DVD to show them who
President Hinkley is, and what he decalres, to show that we do have a
prophet that testifies of Christ today. While General Conference is
great, and some of the talks can help investigators, I thought I
would stick to Special Witnesses of Christ so that investigators can
see and hear from a current prophet and (mostly) current apostles.

Apparently Mandy was a bit confused about the relationship between
Susie and Elder Morgan. Elder Morgan was trained by Susie at the Hub,
the USU cafeteria, when he began working there. Thus, running into
him on my mission was higly unexpected. But anyway....

Not much to say in the way of investigators. Marcus Howard is moving
back to Florida. We haven't been able to get a hold of Levi for quite
a while. We had a few less actives come to church, as well as Sandra
Cosso, our golden media referral. She called and asked for a Finding
Faith in Christ DVD, and she immediately saw something different in
Elder Brewster and me. Elder Jaynes and I split for sacrament
meeting, so I wasn't able to ask her how she liked the services. He
went to the English services so that he could make sure the
investigators that went there were okay, and I went to the
Marshallese services, because I was supposed to give a talk on Elder
Worthlin's talk "Sunday Will Come" from the October 06 Conference.
(By the way, I would appreciate the November 06 and May 07 Ensigns).

Things are going really well. A few of the members have volunteered
to teach some investigators in their homes, which is what we really
need. Member referrals are more effective than tracting, and teaching
an investigator in a member's home is more effective than teaching an
investigator in their own home. It looks like we'll have three of
them within the next three weeks. Then, the Marshallese elders arrive!

We're really pressed for time today. We're supposed to go to Siloam
Springs to go hiking for a district outing. Well, it takes about 45
minutes to get to Siloam Springs, and we've gotta be there by 2 pm
(not to mention we have to figure out where we're supposed to go),
and then we have to pay to go (ugh!), so that leaves us with about
three hours to e-mail and write letters, clean the apartment, go
shopping, and eat lunch. Not to mention I'm trying to be cheap this
month, so I'm using my college skills for making cheap meals, using
cheap generic brands. I figure since I'll be here for a year, I might
as well start buying things to last me a while, rather than just
going from week to week.

Anyway, I'd better get going. See you all next week! Brady
