Happy Birthday Mom! Only about two months and I'll call you on the phone.
So Saturday night we were told where we're going this Friday. The
native Marshallese that's coming doesn't know English well enough, so
they're going to keep him in the MTC for another transfer, so Elder
Jaynes and I will be paired up in Springdale this transfer. Wohoo! I
leave Friday morning, most likely. They have a North Loop and a South
Loop that go around in a circle in opposite directions to move all of
the missionaries. Since I'll be going up north to Springdale, I'll
probably be taken on the South Loop, which comes out to Arkansas, and
then goes north to Missouri. I should only be traveling about 2 hours
at most: From Van Buren (just north of Fort Smith, across the river)
to Rogers, and a bit down to Springdale.
I've realized that transfers are exciting, except for the prospect of
packing. I have two hours on Thursday to shove my entire life at
present into three bags. And then, I have to unpack it all on Friday
afternoon! I'm glad I'll be at Springdale for a year: I don't have to
pack, unpack, and then repack and reunpack four months later.
I'm going to miss this ward. There's a lot of good people here. And a
couple of investigators have asked that I see them before I go.
There's not much to say in the way of last week. Most of our
potential investigators and current investigators have been filtered
through, so we're left with only a couple definite ones. Daryl is
struggling, as he is in the late stages of pancreatic cancer. He's
using drinking as a way to dull the physical pain, but does believe
that the church is true. We're trying to at least get him to church.
Another investigator is Sue. She and her husband were arrested for
shoplifting, and there's a lot of mixed-up legal things that are
causing her a lot of stress, especially since she can't work since
she has epilepsy. She's semi-stable for now, but wants to come to
church next week. I've got only 3 days or so to help Elder Erickson
out, so I'm going to do the best I can.
So, I have the address that I will be at in Springdale, but I forgot
to bring it. I'll send it to Cindy. In the way of things I would
like: 3 or 4 short-sleeved shirts from Missionary Mall, size 17.
Also, my dictionary. I left it on one if the middle shelves of the
bookcase downstairs, on the very left. It's hardcover and blue, and I
left it next to a big hardcover thesaurus that has a green cover.
It's called the New Oxford American English Dictionary. If you could
send those to Springdale (or just to the mission office, as that
might be easier), including Spoken Marshallese, I'd really appreciate
it.
Well, that's all I can think of. See you in Springdale!
