| March 16th, [9:59pm] Whoo! I'm a dinosaur! 23 years old! Roar! To celebrate this wondrous day, I will be studying motor neurons and their respective pathways! yay! On a more serious note, two of my close friends (Michele and Scott) got involved in seperate car accidents in these past two weeks. Both are in great condition (except Scott needs surgery to fix his broken left finger, no more Starcraft!). However, especially with the rain and all, I just want to remind everyone out there to drive extra careful. I've decided that I'm going to start adding links to sites of great artists that I've found online. Image-collecting / surfing has become quite an addiction of mine, so I thought I would share some of my better finds with you guys online. This artist's site is called TakaHP (and yes, it's in Japanese). Click on the 2nd link from the left on the top to get to his gallery. The TakaHP Gallery. March 9th, [7:13pm] I got TWO words for ya... BATTLE - ROYALE. "What is 'Battle Royale'?", you must be wondering. It's this Japanese movie that came out two years ago, and created an uproar in the Japanese Diet (that's their equivalent of a Parliament) as well as in the general populace. The story is very simple. Place 40 high-schoolers on a deserted island, give each of them a weapon. After 3 days, unless only ONE of them is left alive, all of them will be killed. It's a horrible, horrible movie in the sense that it explores some of the darkest depravities of human nature. A new-age Lord of the Flies, if you will. What would you do if placed in such a situation? Would your life be more important than your values? The film explored many possibilities, including students that immediately embraced the idea of "there can only be one", to students that refused to partake in the violence (and thus chose to end their own lives). But it was a great film, amongst the best I've ever seen. I would only recommend it to a handful of people, but to those that can stomach the violence in it, you can probably take home several powerful messages from it. Anyway, a link to the movie's UK website. BATTLE - ROYALE. Whew. On a lighter note, Japanese porn sucks. This conclusion was reached after a short exposure to several respectable acquaintances of mine. So dissapointing. At least they make good films about high-schoolers battling it out on an island... March 4th, [12:02am] Great news this week thus far. First off, my sister got her first acceptance in a college, at UCI, which is great. It's always a huge relief to recieve your first acceptance. I'm sure you all remember your first as well. Also, my cousing Tommy got accepted into the USC Physical Therapy Graduate Program at USC, so I'll be seeing him on campus starting next year! Okay, big event today. I clogged the toilet upstairs. I assure you, you do not know what terror is, until you're washing your hands, and notice the water level rising in the toilet bowl. I seriously stood there dumbfounded for the next few moments, silently praying that it would stop.....but it did not. I continued to flow OUT of the bowl, and formed a pool around the toilet that eventually extended all the way to the hall. Screaming, I ran downstairs to find a plunger or something, when I hear "raining" sounds coming from the kitchen. The water accumulating on the floor of the bathroom upstairs had LEAKED through to the roof of kitchen right below it. In fact, it brought down one of the light panels in the ceiling, sending it crashing down into a million pieces. The word "panicked" does not begin to describe the emotions I was thrown into. 8 rolls of Bounty and a soaked towel later, the mess is gone....but the lasting impression of the horror remains. I was lucky that the water was "clean", in that no residuals of my "work" were involved in the overflow. But clearly, one of the grossest things involved in today's adventure is the fact that the leaking roof water actually splashed on the clean plates and cups I have put out to dry near the sink. SICK. Anyway, that is all. A big shout out to Sisi and Phil for pitching in and helping me clean up the mess. As a reward for their efforts, I have given them the right to tell anyone they wish about my mishap. Ugh. March 2nd [9:25pm] I've been informed that my recent updates have been.....well, more perverted than before (I suppose that's the best way to say it). I suppose that it's true. In response, numerous theories (okay, just 2) have emerged in regards to this change. One is that I've become upset at women, or something like that, because I don't have a gf currently. The other suggests that I have actually undergone "retro-evolution", and evolved into a more primitive type of human being. Say what?!??! I don't believe that's true.....though it's certainly possible... (shrug). Personally, I do it because I think it's all kinda funny. I don't think that I've changed so much....but rather my willingness to see certain less "PC" items as a source of laughter has been enlarged in its scope. We should be able to find humor in almost everything. In short, I'm not a pervert! And if I am.....it's your fault! March, 1st [11:00pm] Oh! the Humanity! School starts again in a day.....and I'm sick. Blech. AND my mom and sister are in the living room watching a Korean soap opera with some REALLY cute chick in it. The problem is, she's probably rich and famous and lives 5000 miles away. I, on the other hand, am sick and grossly in debt to Uncle Sam here in the United States. I think it's best I go to sleep. Take care dudes. Thus ends my Spring Break. February 24th, 2003 [11:41pm] I have a bit of a dilemna. I've decided not to buy a parking permit next year for school. My remaining options are as follows: Park in the free Lot 9 across from the hospital...... Or.....I could start biking to school. Hey, people do it! Now, all I need is a bike that's reliable! Shit. Where can I find one of those for cheap? Hmmmmmm. Email or write me if you have any suggestions, or know of anybody who has a cheap bike (and I mean CHEAP, like under $50) to sell. Damn, I'm a scrooge sometimes. The bike's gotta be somewhat reliable, unlike my old one (people can tell you stories about its nefariousness. Oh, and btw, the pic on the left today is by this Japanese artist I found online. Great stuff. She tries to do at least 5 or 6 drawings a week. I encourage you to check it out here. Oh yeah, some of the drawings border on....uhm....well, I don't like them, but hey, maybe you wierdos out there will. But most of it's good, solid stuff. Give gallery 6 a shot. Until then dudes. I'm going to attend my first "court wedding" on Wednesday. That'll be interesting. Other than that, I'm just enjoying my time off. Take care, and have a good until-next-update. February 23rd, 2003 [1:01pm] Well, the exams for the Hematology and Gross Anatomy: Pelvic region are over. 'Twas torturous, and more than a little painful. But still, it was nothing compared to the horror of Core Principles II. Not even close. If I learned anything in regards to the pelvic region, is that it's a great place to make jokes about. In fact, those crazy anatomists who named body parts even had a great sense of humor. Did you know that the epididymus (the tube above the testicles) means: "epi" - above "didymus" - the twins har har. Those crazy anatomy people. Anyway, I'm actually updating on my Spring Break. Who woulda thunk it? Watched "Shanghai Knights" on Friday night with John and his gf, Jennifer. That movie was awesome. Despite his age, Jackie Chan still manages to astound me. The end fight scene with the swords.....man, it puts the Star Wars saber fights to shame. But the highlight of the movie was actress Fann Wong. Holy crap, she's hot. Not perfect, mind you...she has certain angles that are better than others, but that's part of her appeal. Here's a link for those interested in oggling. The Hotness. Hot damnedness. There's this scene where she.....my lord. I would die if that ever happened to me. I mean it. I body would implode and I would DIE. But it would be a happy death. =) February 15th, 2003 [10:15pm] Holy Freakin' Crap!!! Major props to George Cano, my X-roommate from USC undergrad. Why? Well, I'll tell you why! In fact, I'll SHOW you why! Everybody remember that link I had for February 2nd? Well, update yourself on that if you haven't. BEHOLD. THIS IS FREAKIN' AWESOME. Click Me! Buy Me! Yay! GOOD LORD!!! Does it get any better than this? I mean, Yuna could use a little work, but Lulu looks HOT! Hmmm, perhaps I have said too much. If word gets back to school about this, my reputation could be soiled...even more than it is now.... bah. People should be able to recognize greatness when they see it, and those who can't.....are just missing out on the marrow of life. And in my book, THIS fine product qualifies as "the Marrow of Life". February 15th, 2003 [12:55am] They call it crunch time. It's down to the wire. It's toil and pain, it's totally insane, But to me, it's fuel for the fire. THE SHIT HAS HIT THE FAN. let's go! ( explanation: We have exams in a week. ) February 11th, 2003 [8:16am] Wow. What an interesting day! Too bad it started out like crap. Woke up around 5:30 am, prepared to go to ICM, then WHAM! I step outside and notice that it's POURING. WHAT THE HELL?!? I suppose the rain is my fault though. Just yesterday, Jon Winarko said to me "I think it's going to rain this week". As a response to his statement, I said "I sure hope it does!" Am I STUPID? yes. Anyway, we got to go to the Children's Hospital, watch surgeries, and basically stand around till our legs and feet atrophied till we were no more than 3 feet tall. I don't know how surgeons can stand so damn long. It's crazy. If I were to become a surgeon, I'd construct like a floating harness above the surgery table, and kinda swing around horizontally whilst cutting people open. Admit it, it's genius. Oh, btw, I made the horrid mistake of borrowing SSX Tricky from John Jimenez. It's started anew. I welcome all would-be challengers!!! Oh yeah, no updates today. Just this rant, so deal with it! February 8th, 2003 [2:04 am] Ugh. What a completely miserable day. To top it off, I got kinda lazy (and a bit insensitive too) and I'm afraid I might have ended up offending a few friends. Overslept. Couldn't get up. I'm afraid that despite my best intentions, my reputation as a slacker and a flake has been sealed. (sigh) Anyway, added some more pictures to the Lunar Year Festival '03. Enjoy dude. Have a good weekend. February 5th, 2003 [8:26 pm] Wah. What a day. And we're only at the half-point of the week! Craziness. Misery prevails. Uploading pictures of the Chinese New Year festival from the HSC campus. Yours truly along with many others participated. There was much strutting, dancing, eating, and chaotic running around while holding poles high in air. That translates to fashion shows, traditional Thai dancing, and a giant helminthe flying around the quad. Unfortunately, not a single red envelope was to be found. =( More pictures will be added daily, if not soon. February 2nd, 2003 [11:20 pm] First, the pic on the left. Final Fantasy X-2, and I think it's going to be awesome. Now, for the real question. Am I a nerd, a geek, or a dork? Amarprit has been kind enough to provide me a copy of his latest study. It's well-written, interesting, and very very relevant to the content of this page. Read it, and I'm sure you will learn something about yourself. What am I, you ask? GEEK all the way baby. Btw, all the she-geeks out there can give me a call at 805-300-1341. Life recently has been alright. Things been looking up, except for hematology. It's interesting, but it's hard. But then again, it's only going to get harder, so I guess I should say that it's actually easy. Fack, what the heck am I talking about? Fack the serious talk. Check this out. I'm taking donations towards the purchase of this incredible item. January 5th, 2003 [8:40 pm] It has ended. My vacation is spent. Those precious hours of doing nothing. Are but a fleeting memory now. Shit. Welcome back. School starts tomorrow. We learn how to draw blood....ON EACH OTHER. God save me.....and the poor sucker who gets to be my guinea pig. New cell phone: 805-300-1341 December 16th, 2002 [6:15 pm] Ah yea..... Today was the first day of exams, and I truly learned that even our MIGHTY professors are not perfect. That's cuz our test was a freakin' joke. Yes, you read me right. A joke, a taunt, a fart in the face of us medical students who try so hard to become all we can be. The test was.....much harder than I think any of us anticipated (with the exception of a few crazy-ass gunners). But that wasn't the problem (although it certainly wasn't pleasant). The problem was that a large portion of the test questions were bogus. In short, they were wrong. In fact, there was an incident where an entire page worth questions was graded incorrectly! How does this happen? Does anybody read these things before killing 100 trees to print the test? The feeback session afterwards easily killed about 200 more trees in the form of question complaints. Mother Nature herself would not have approved of this test. Anyway, back to preparing for tomorrow' Gross Anatomy exam. YEAH! November 24th, 2002 [11:08 pm] Someone out there is a lazy FACKING bum. Yeah, that's right. HE knows who HE is. Faaaaaaaaaack. October...no wait....November 4th, 2002 [9:38pm] Holy Shmokes. I do no updating for long time. But I've updated the models page, and will continue to do so for a bit to come, putting in pics of what I've finished building and works in progress. So click under hobbies if you're brave enough. Dah, it's still only November. I can't wait till I get rich and retire. Other news. New link in the photo section to Halloween pics. It's getting overloaded with traffic, because the webhosting "sucks to your asmar". That was a bad joke. I apologize on behalf of all those who suffer from the debilitating effects of asthma.......and to all those bespectacled fat kids out there named Piggy. August 25th, 2002 [11:22 pm] Added Stanley Chou to Characters. August 23rd, 2002 [3:36 pm] Holy freaking crap, an update. Well, the madness begins anew...and with renewed vigor this time. Eric's entered the USC Keck School of Medicine, and all is....well, insanity. Not sure what to make of it all? Neither do I. Actually, truth be told, I'm confused as hell. This has got to be some kind of horrible joke. Never in my life have I been inundated with SO MUCH WORK. And this is just the beginning. Anyway, I hope to keep you guys posted. Thanks for bearing (or not bearing) with the crappiness of this page. I updated the Characters section a bit with a few new names, and some updated pictures of old ones. Don't see yourself in there? It's my bad entirely. Honestly, I have no system of working out who goes first or second. It's basically a whim thing, and dependent on whether or not I have a digital pic of you. Until then dudes, take care. I need a nap. Late. May 7th, 2002 [2:13 am] An article I just whipped up in regards to the whole Middle East shebang. What a mess. Boo. Sharon Under Suspicion Well, that's all folks....for my undergradute years. Sigh. It's strange. I thought I would be so elated after finishing my last final, but instead, I found myself staring off into space while I waited my turn to hand in my final test. There was a mirror in the room, and I found myself staring at my good-looking reflection. And I just started thinking about how fast these 4 years have passed. I know that everyone says that...but damn, I'm really a bit depressed. A lot has changed in the four years I've been here. However, looking at the mirror, I realized that I still dress bad. I suppose some things will never change. And I take comfort in that. May 1st, 2002 [5:07 am] AHHHHHH!!!!!!! April 29th, 2002 [1:15 pm] Well, finally....an update. Sorry about that. I have these cycling periods of feeling-like-updating and not-feeling-like-updating. I'm fickle and unpredictable like that. That's why women love me. Yea. Added Nick Barclift's Research Paper in the Resources section. I highly recommend that anyone read this paper. Nick is one of the best writers I know, period. This paper reflects just that. Well-written, and you'll definetly learn a thing or two about the social implications of Japanese animation, and the reasons for its differences from "traditional" America animation. This is finals week for me, then I'm graduating. Unbelievable huh? My left foot just fell asleep. This sucks. Anyway, I plan to add pics of my senior recital soon, as well as other things. I'm in an updating phase right now (unfortunately, during finals week), so visit often please! February 19th, 2002 [12:53 pm] The new Resources Page is up. There, you will find Personal Statements, Vision Statements, blah blah. Although it was designed for premeds and other applicants to graduate school, some of the essays still make for an interesting read. Knock yourself out. February 18th, 2002 [2:10 pm] Whaddup people. Updated the Current Desktop. Also working on the new Resources section. Hopefully, that will be up soon, within a week or so. I feel SO lazy lately. I dunno why. It's difficult to even get out of bed some days. (sigh). Does anyone out there have a cure for this? I'd appreciate it. Till next time. February 11th, 2002 [1:40 pm] Updated the Current Doctored Photo you see on the entrance page. Also put up the dumb counter. That is all for now. I must be getting to class. Watched the first episode of Kenshin OVA last night. Also watched the first episode of Love Hina Again. Two very different things, but entertaining nonetheless. Funny thing, John swears that he saw the splitting image of Otohime Mutsumi while walking around the Focus Plaza in Monterey Park yesterday. The bastard didn't even take a picture. February 10th, 2002 [7:16 pm] A short, quick update of the current desktop. Attended the annual Chinese School New Year's performance. Was absolutely awesome. Enjoyed myself very very much. Hope everyone else had a good weekend too. Until then. I'll update tomorrow. February 5th, 2002 [9:11 pm] Not much for now. I have included the links to the message board and the photo gallery on this main page. Until then. I'll be in the library studying Stats. Late. February 4th, 2002 [1:14 am] Hey. The new page is up and running. The biggest change and update thus far is the Friends section, which has been renamed the "Characters" section. Read up on it, and you'll understand. There's also a new "Current Desktop" section. I hope you find it amusing, as I intend to update that too. I welcome any and all feedback concerning this "new" page. Until then, I'll be updating quite often. Thank you for your support guys! January 27th, 2002 [6:54 pm] Well, the new hub has been completed. Inevitably, there will be some complaints. The design is far more simplistic than the old page, and some links have been condensed into a single link. But dammit, the page loads faster. This is important for me. On a 56k, which I will be using starting next year (ugh), a page that loads quickly is crucial to the survival of this website. That....and updating more regularly, of course. January 9th, 2002 [12:12 pm] Well, Eric is in San Francisco interviewing for some silly medical school. We all know he should be a professional manga drawing model builder anyway. So, since he never updates his site I, Nick Barclift, have decided to add the occasional little thing. Sadly, I'll probably be lazier about this than Eric. Oh also, me and Brian kinda accidentally changed your password Eric, so just icq me when you get back. That is all. Dec 2nd, 1001 [5:53 pm] Hi guys. Sorry, but for the next two weeks I will be unable to update, simply due to overwhelming work. Please forgive me. Good luck with your finals as well. Nov 27th, 2001 [10:08 pm] I finally caved in. The $50 Dreamcast is a dream come true. The current obsession is Jet Grind Radio, but I predict that will soon give way to Soul Caliber and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. What is that I hear? Finals are in 2 weeks? Crap. Updating has become very difficult lately, as the server is giving me a great deal of trouble. Some aspects of the page are just changing on their own, little things like font size, color, picture placement. It is driving me nuts and taking a longass time to fix. Questions Updated. Quotes Updated. I hope to have a new article by the weekend. More later. I promise. Eddie Barry has given me an interesting idea for the page. It has something with making money and playing Diablo II at the same time. Confused? So am I. Nov 17th, 2001 [1:19 am] Okay, at last, a real update. I'll work on the questions I've recieved over the weekend, and put them up when I get back. My Loser Hobbies updated. Haha. Have a nice weekend folks, and I'll be seeing some of you guys next week. God, I hope we win in tomorrow's football game. Nov 15th, 2001 [10:46 pm] First and foremost, my apologies to those of you who continued to visit my page despite the SEVERE lack of updates for the past month. As for those of you who only visited occasionally....I uh....hope you learned your lesson! Like the central hub pic? Yes yes. Quotes updated. My Loser Hobbies updated. And probably some tidbits elsewhere for the next few days. Damn, I gotta start/finish working on the friends section. Been swamped with work lately...among other things. Thanks for continuing to visit. This update is dedicated to Eddie Barry, who kicked my ass into updating. And Erik Johnsen, whom I have not forgotten even though he's in Copenhagen. Harry Potter this weekend. HELLS YEAH. |
