The Baccalaureate MD Program- did i spell that right?

For those of you that don't know, the BMD program at USC is an 8-year medical track of which I am a part of.

I'm still in shock over the idea that I'm in it. Gina Moses must have been asleep at the wheel when my application passed over her desk.

But hey, I'm here, and that's good enough for me. :)

Nevertheless, I personally feel that this program is lacking in many ways. First off, it's not really a program. It's more like a guarantee. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, I often find myself  wishing that there was a wee bit more organization to this "program". Things like trips to music festivals, volunteer programs would be nice. Maybe a trip to watch a musical at the Pantages followed by a tour of the County Coroner's Office would be nice.

Alas, we can only dream.

But the guarantee to USC med school is comforting. Nay, it's more than comforting. It's like a powerful drug whose sedating effects are most potent during finals week and the MCAT. Trippy. :)

As for my fellow students, I couldn't ask for a neater group of people to share this experience with. We all have very different interests, and most of us get along pretty well (should i have written that? probably not). But hey, that's what makes it so fun. Some of us have decided that they don't want to become doctors. Many have gone with business majors, english majors, and one of us has even left to join a boy band. I heard his mother is still recovering.

Another funny thing is, I honestly can't remember a thing from my BMD interview. Yet, it seems that everyone else remembers it clearly. Supposedly, Janet Kim wore jeans and a t-shirt to her interview (very cool). Others like Allison were freaking out when they realized just how competitive some of the other applicants were. All I remember was that I did some magic tricks for my interviewer (of whom I can't remember), and something about a "gamma knife".

The gamme knife sold me on this school.

That's why I'm here today.
