Here are the minutes from Saturday's meeting:
MOPS Organization Committee
Saturday, September 8, 2007, 2:00 pm, Anazao
Meeting Notes
Attendees: Tama, Brandy, Melissa, Angie, Stephanie S., Stephanie L., Ana, Alison
- Publicity - We will distribute a flyer to all the active and inactive members on Kate’s list that we think will still be interested. Kate, can you please get this list to Melissa (delete those that moved or have a job – I came up with around 60 people). Ana has generously agreed to provide the postage and drop them in the mail. Melissa will contact the Imperial Valley Press, KGBA, and the Edge for advertising (assuming it’s free). Melissa will distribute flyers to the Family Treehouse, etc. Melissa will create an insert for church bulletins. We will divide the churches among the committee members for distribution.
- Below is our updated list of roles. I will call Joy Gienger about helping with decorations and continue to think about the mentor mom.
- We agreed to meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from 9:30 – 11:30 am. I will get our calendar on the church schedule. Melissa, can you please send me all the dates so I have the same list you have. Below is a listing of program ideas. (I put yes for a devotional where the presentation isn’t faith-centered.)
- We began a discussion about MOPPETS. We decided to start with using the nursery and the adjoining room. We can expand to the Sunday school rooms as needed. Brandy will contact Tracey King in Texas to accept the offer of the free old MOPPETS curriculum. Brandy will review it and we will discuss it further. I will ask the preschool about the use of the playground. I will check on the required ratio of children to caregivers. The committee will be formally introduced to the caregivers before the first MOPS meeting on October 8th. Sometime before then, Brandy and whoever else wants to join will need to meet them and give them a tour and discuss the curriculum.
- In preparation for a fuller finance discussion, I will ask FUMC if they have any rules about how we manage our finances (separate accounts, etc.). Melissa had a great idea about having everyone bring a $5 gift for a birthday basket.
