During the week of Memorial Day,
the Apache Gold Casino hosted the
39th Annual San Carlos Apache Veterans Rodeo and Fair.
This all-Indian rodeo was a great chance to watch many accomplished riders compete in events like bull riding, barrel racing, and calf roping.
Before the finals, little kids got the chance to show their stuff by trying mutton busting, or sheep riding.
Watching these tiny cowpunchers hang onto the back of a sheep was a lot of fun. In a decade (or two), the adult riders we enjoyed watching might have some competition from these tykes.
