| A Pagan's Room! | ||||||||||||
| A lot of people wonder what other pagan's have in their rooms. What does a "real witch" have and how does she store it? Well, the real answer to this is that there is no standard - every witch, just like every person, is different. But I have included a picture of my own room for those who really want to know, and a key to it at the bototm of the page. | ||||||||||||

| THE KEY Please use the key below to help you identify the different areas highlighted above. |

| A: BASKET Baskets are very useful, and decorative items. This is my large basket, which I normally use when I go out gathering herbs, pinecones, and other bits and bobs. B: ALTAR Although I would love to have a table devoted to the purpose of my altar, it just isn't possible in a small room like mine. So I have the pieces for it scattered around my room. This is what I normally think of as my altar, the space on top of my TV. There are always two candle-sticks, representing duality, to use for on-the-spot spells and devotions. C: SILK CLOTH This is my silk cloth. I use it for any divination, be it tarot, runes, or pendulum. I use it as an altar cloth too, when I'm dressing up the top of my TV. Below this, you can also make out the smaller of my two baskets. D: MORTAR AND PESTLE You can just make them out in this pic, sitting on my bookcase. I have a marble mortar and pestle, which, although highly decorative, is a bitch to clean! I'm saving up for a nice cast-iron set instead. E: OILS In the picture it looks like a gold box with a purple band. In reality, it's actually my essential oils! An example of how you can have your pagan gear in full view yet completely hidden, boxes are great! F: CAULDRON Gleaming shiny brass, I picked up my 'cauldron' from a charity shop, after it lived a past life as a plant pot! What a bargain at just 2.00! |

| G: BOOKS You might have guessed from the above pic that I love books. Well, this particular shelf is devoted to my pagan ones!! This is also where I store my BoS. And you can just make out the green blob of my pet dragon! H: ELEMENTAL ALTAR Like I said at B, my space for altars is limited. In this case, my elementals space is this tiny shelf, which also has my Anne McCaffery books on it. There's just room enough for a bowl of shells, a bowl of crystals, a feather and a candle. Plus two family pics. I: PAGAN ALTAR Altar no 3 holds my athame, wand, focus tarot card for meditation, focus seasonal picture, and anything I'm charging at any given time! J: MICELLANEOUS LEFTOVERS In any small room, you're bound to have bits and bobs that you just can't fit anywhere else. Well, this is mine. There are Pagan books that don't fit on my main shelf, there are a couple of bottles of oil and a candle. Theres the incense tower I bought wih a dragon coiling around it, and a jar of herbs (jasmine blossoms in this case). No matter how long you're in the Craft, you'll have a place like this. It might be a shelf like mine, it might be a space in a cupboard, or a shoebox under the bed. You might even be lucky enough to have a special chest just for all your bits. But you will never be able to find a place for everything unless you're the reincarnation of Martha Steward! K: MY BESSOM! Yup! I have an actual broomstick! Don't worry, despite the stories, very few witches actually own a broomstick, so in all likelyhood, you'll never find a need to buy one. So why do I have one? I hear you ask... well, the truth is I bought it as part of a halloween costume! |
