3/7/03"TarValon.Net is an unofficial Wheel of Time Fan Club, run for and by its members. We are not an RPG site, although we do use fictional names while dealing with Tower Business. There may also be some light role-playing, but it is secondary to our function as a fan-based real-life organization (if you are looking for an RPG site, we highly recommend the role playing at Dragonmount.com). Please bear in mind that we do blur the lines between characters and reality. People will take your actions seriously and may not differentiate between your actions and those of your fictional name."This portion of the Law is explaining the nature of our site. We are people, who happen to have read the Wheel of Time, that have gathered together and built a community. The things that are done here are the actual person doing them; because of this, we emphasize respect and the rules. We do this because most people here are TarValon.net do not see the Tower as a game, but rather as another home. When people intentionally disregard the rules in a hurtful manner (this does not include the small bends for pranks or jokes), others lose a part of the reason they come to the Tower. We do engage in some role-playing as a joke or to emphasize something, and it can be quite fun; we just keep in mind that this is a community of people, and less a community of characters. In addition to this, many people have and do contribute a large portion of their time and effort to the maintaining of this site, and we like to help keep things running smoothly. |
