This is my first and (maybe my last) effort at doing a landscape. I used leaves cut in halves to portray the mountains, and dusty miller and other leaves that looked like fir trees. The flowers in the foreground are forget-me-nots. |

Floral Earrings |

This is my first effort again of making floral earrings. I got the idea from one of the ladies on the pressed flowers egroups and decided I would love to have some just to wear. They turned out to be a little more work than I had planned. The flowers have been picked from my garden and pressed, then they have been placed on a thin layer of hardened resin, which takes a few days to dry, then glued to the back coat, trimmed and another layer of resin has been brushed on top. The hardening process takes a while but you have to be patient. Then an earring backing has to be glued on. I have worn the pansy earrings quite a lot, and it's amazing how people notice them, and ask if they are real flowers. I am going to try and do some other flowers and maybe make bigger pins. |

I love this little girl pictured below. I even gave her a name, "Maya". I saw her in a magazine and decided I had to have her incorporated in a pressed flower picture and here we are. As you can see, she is quite taken by the little bird who is staring back at her. She originally had a yellow dress on but I decided to dress her up a little and gave her a purple lavatera dress and the bodice has been dressed up with three forget me nots. I cut away her right arm so that she would look like she is holding a stem of flowers and also put some in her left hand. I had many suggestions from people as to how to incorporate her in a floral picture, and I had two stems of purple larkspur that joined perfectly to form an arbour. The leaves from the nearby trees overlooking the arbour are actually called Northern Sea Oats. I just love the way the stems are so thin and flow with the leaves. The butterfly is made from two petals of a pale yellow pansy and the body is a little leaf from the stem of alyssum and the antennae are from the same plant. They have a way of flying away all by themselves if you are not careful! The meadow is also comprised of forget me nots. When I introduced different coloured flowers it just didn't feel right so I kept the picture pretty simple. This picture I just couldn't bring myself to sell, so it became one of the Christmas presents I gave to my son and daughter in law. So it looks like Maya will be staying in the family.
