The bus ride from Pattaya to Bangkok was 2.5 hours long. The taxi ride from the bus station to the hotel was almost as long, thanks to Bangkok's rush-hour traffic (we did a lot of sitting in taxis that weren't moving while we were in Bangkok). By the time we settled in to our hotel room it was almost 5:00 p.m. and we were really hungry. So we headed out in search of food. We found this Vietnamese restaurant near Siam Center and decided to eat there. This is me reading the menu, and wondering what we were supposed to do with the bowl of leaves they had set in front of us...

Our original plan was to go to a transvestite show in the area (apparently it's very popular), but we changed our minds (which we now regret). Instead, we went to an area called "Kaosan Road." I had asked another foreigner on the street if he might recommend an area where we could shop, eat, and drink. He suggested Kaosan Road. This is a road similar to Walking Street in Pattaya, but this road has a lot of hostels on it, and so there are a lot of backpacker-type people there. Every shop, restaurant, and bar is playing a different type of techno or house music. It was basically a big party in the street. We had a great time, and bought a lot of cool things for almost nothing. Below are some scenes from Kaosan Road.
