Here we are by the hotel pool, unable to believe it's January!... In the first picture, a plant is eating my hand...
After a morning swim, we went for a walk along the beach.
There were food carts and vendors everywhere. Women approached passers-by asking if they'd like a massage (we saw many people lying on the beach getting massages). We didn't get a beach massage that morning, but we did stop at this cart to try a "roti."
The guy told us that "rotis" are not Thai but Indian. A roti is a kind of thin pancake folded up with fruit or other things inside. We asked him what the most popular kind was, and he said "banana." So that's what we got. I wish I had tried them all... the banana one was soooooooo goooooood!!!
After our roti, we took a few pictures of some Thai-looking stuff around the hotel area.
.
Then we hopped on a "baht bus." A baht (Thai money) bus isn't really a "bus"; it's a pick-up truck with benches installed on the flat bed, a roof overhead, and bars to hold onto... which you definitely want to do, since the speed limit is apparently 1,000 miles per hour on most roads in Thailand. This "truck," which is called a "bus," functions like a "taxi." Except for one thing... there's no meter, so you have to bargain with the driver for the fare before you go. Here's Sangho enjoying the ride in a baht bus. We are on our way to "Nong Nooch Tropical Garden" (to see elephants!).
