DAY ONE: Pattaya

Here's Incheon International Airport the morning we took off. Notice the snow.

This is the Mekong river, which separates Vietnam and Thailand, as seen from the airplane.

We arrived the first day at Bangkok International Airport. Notice there is no snow.

When we arrived, we were greeted by the Korean travel agent who booked our trip. He had arranged for a little old Thai guy to drive us to Pattaya (a 2.5 hour trip). The guy spoke almost no English, but he knew just enough to say "You give tip, ok?"

Our driver had much difficulty locating our hotel. He stopped to ask for directions every three feet. We finally made it to the hotel, though (around 4:30 pm). This is a picture of it. We were almost at the top, on the 25th floor.

Here are some pictures of our incredible hotel view...

I had had only about an hour of sleep the night before, but I still wanted to go out for a little while the first night. The hotel people told us to check out a place called "Walking Street." So we did. (Actually, first we had a free seafood buffet dinner offered by the hotel... THEN we went out...)

Walking Street is a long street lined with bars, restaurants, shops, and massage parlors. We mostly just walked up the street a bit, stopped to have a beer, and took our tired selves back to the hotel for some sleepin'. But I did manage to take a couple of photos of things I saw along the way...
