Hello all.

I hope you had a merry Christmas and a good start of 2009.  I failed to write an end of the year letter for 2007 and 2008, so I’m writing an update for both years in this letter.

2007

The year 2007 was marked with some good and some bad, as all years go.  The highlight was climbing Half Dome in September after a failed attempt in 2005.  Here’s a pic of me on top of Half Dome.

The year 2007 was also marked with the leaving of two of my good friends from the Bay Area.  That made me sad, but I’m happy they have moved on with their lives.  One of them is getting married later this year (2009), and the other is pursuing his PhD.  In addition to these happenings, I visited Minnesota three times: once for a wedding of a friend from high school and two times for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  I also went to LA twice: once to visit my parents, and once just for fun.  The year 2007 was also when my 2nd niece was born in August.  She’s a cutie pie, just like her older sister.  The younger niece has lighter hair.  Also worth mentioning is that I hung out with my coworkers quite a lot.  We had a Pilates group going for a while.  That stopped when our instructor stopped working for the company.  Since then, I haven’t done much exercise regularly.  I guess my resolution for 2009 should be to exercise regularly.  That’ll be a tough one…

The last thing worth mentioning for 2007 is that I joined Facebook in April.  If you’re on Facebook, let me know, so we can be friends on Facebook!

2008

The year 2008 was an eventful one.  In the span of two months, I changed jobs, moved apartments, and my grandmother passed away.  My grandmother was 104 years old when she passed in May.  She was a woman who loved God and was loved by many people.  She had many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  There were a lot of people at her funeral.  She led a very full life, and my family misses her.

As for what happened in my life, I switched jobs from supporting the Employment department of a biopharmaceutical company to supporting the IT department of the same company doing a little bit of everything – doc administration, change control, SOX testing, and miscellaneous administrative duties.  I attended three weddings: two of friends from work and one childhood friend from church.  In addition, I went home for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s (two trips that added up to three weeks total).  I also stopped by Minnesota on the way home from my grandmother’s funeral.  During that time, I got to hang out with my brother, sister-in-law, and two nieces while my parents stayed in Toronto a little longer.

The last thing worth mentioning is that I joined eHarmony in the spring of 2008.  While I do not know if I will (or have) met “The One” through eHarmony, it’s one more avenue for me to meet people, and if you’re single and you want to meet people, I totally recommend it.  One of my friends (mentioned in 2007) found her husband on eHarmony, so you never know.

Well, I hope you had a good holiday or winter break however you choose to celebrate the end of the year, and I wish you the best in 2009!

Love,

Elaine
