MY THOUGHTS....
After receiving several e-mails and conversations with people regarding various issues such as Cochlar Implants (C.I.).  I have been thinking about what was being said.  All of us are entitled to opinions.  It does not mean I disagree with everyone's opinions regarding Cochlar Implants.

A few friends of mine who are deaf, has expressed their feelings about C.I.  They stated several valid reasons for wanting C.I.  Most of them are mothers.  They mentioned their reasons for wanting C.I.s is because of their kids.  The purpose of their wishes is to be able to hear where their kids are whenever their (mothers) attentions are on somewhere else.  I can't add more details without their permission since I respect their privacy.

Although, some of them have not exactly disagreed with my opinions about C.I.  As I have stated earlier in this website, I strongly believe C.I. are suitable for people who has lost their hearing at a later age.  At the same time, it may help  most of people regain SOME degree of hearing.   Granted, I was slightly tempted at the notion of having C.I. because I do have some curiousity of being able to hear some.  Yet, my fears is that it may not help me at all therefore it'd be a waste of money and time.  (I will add more about myself in another link in this website)

As for American Sign Language, I believe ASL is a beautiful language because it can express in so many words.  To ease fears that learning ASL would not help a Deaf person's english skills... I don't believe it would hurt a Deaf person's English.  If a Deaf child was encouraged to read at an early age, it may help improve their english skills at the same time using ASL.  To be honest with all of you,  english is my first language, I've grown to love ASL because of its beauty and more easily accessible.  ASL is a faster mode of communication among Deaf people.
