IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON TECHNOLOGY FOR THE DEAF
Pagers: It is an important tool for Deaf people these days.  It is a two-way messaging device while enables them to send each other messages, from their own pagers or even e-mail.  The pager vibrates whenever a new message shows up.  That way the beeping or any noise would not disturb others in public area.  This is helpful especially when they are away from their computers or home.  It's also recommended to have pagers to keep in touch with Deaf people at work to communicate between the boss/supervisor and the Deaf employee.

Relay Services: A service that enables Deaf people to communicate over phone with hearing people who doesn't have TTY machines.  The operator acts like an interpreter in the middle.  He/she would interprete what a Deaf person types and voices the message to the hearing person.  When the hearing person speaks, the operator will type out the message to the Deaf person.  The relay number is now 711 nation-wide. To contact a Deaf person, dial 7 - 1 - 1 first! When the operator answers the call, be sure to give the operator the correct phone number.
