WTF is el Frendez on about now? Yes contemporary music is bullshit. When I talk about contemporary music, I talk about bloody pop star idolism and rhythm and blues / rap music and the new "urban" genre, and dance music. It's all shithouse. Music is a form of self expression through non-other-than; musical instruments and vocals. How can you say that someone like bloody Shannon Knoll is a artist/musician when he can't even competently play a guitar, piano or any other musical instrument apart from a fucken triangle? He can barely sing. Actually he more shouts than sings.
You got record companies that just grab any hot random chick like Britney Spears or Jessica Simpson's sister and give them a record with some other goon's voice while they lip-sync it all. These people are like totally un-artistic and can't sing or play, read or compose music. It isn't music. Its more like popular culture monstrosity and idealistic image worship.
Being a musician is about THE MUSIC. It isn't about all the fringe benefits that go along with it. A true artist/musician will produce their own music and write their own content. You can't say that someone that doesn't write and produce their own music makes music; they just perform it. This is in ALL genres of today's music except for the Rock genre and all of its sub-genres. People that are in a rock band write all of their content and produce everything they record. Tracks are seldom "recycled" unlike the other genres. How many times have you listened to Destiny's Child and heard the same beats with different lyrics? Or maybe turned on the radio and heard the same dance song, with another track played over it? Yes. There is something about today's artists being uncreative and recycling music. But you DO have the odd rock band that recycles music like the Red Hot Chilli Peppers or the Strokes, but apart from the small fraction of the whole, the rock genre stays true to being artistically genuine.

An excellent example of recycling music is the Neptunes. Yes they are good at making music but they suck at making anything original. They created their album CLONES a while back which is really the same song over and over again. You have the opening beat(1), then pre-hook(2), then hook (3), then 2, 3, and beat change (4), and then back to hook (3). Its the same in every track. Just check Justified by Justin Timberlake.

And why the fuck did JIVE records fuck the Backstreet Boys over and invested so heavily in N*Sync? Apart from Justin Timberlake, they're all shithouse. Justin can play the guitar AND the piano as well as sing and dance, whereas the rest of N*Sync are pretty boys. They should change the Grammy's so that only REAL musicians are put into the awards. 'Cause anyone can bloody sing or play something, but its real talent that produces the shit. They should refer to the artists that actually produce and perform their music as MUSICIANS and the uncreative assholes that merely sing and play the shit as PERFORMERS. Indeed.
