Today's Youth and the Internet
Revolution
From
the year 1997 up to recently, MSN's chatrooms were the most popular hit sites an
the internet. Our whole generation were becoming a cohort of illiterate
and oddly punctuated goons due to the nature of internet chat and mobile SMS.
These chatrooms become an ample resource for young potential victims of
child-stalker/paedophiles which led to its close early this year. It isn't
just the internet that is creating the dumbass generation of our age but also
sadly PS2 and PC/LAN Gaming. Television is what killed off braincells and
creativeness in the mid 20th Century but the internet revolution and electronic
games seem sadly more imaginatively fatal. The image on the left portrays
a "LAN party". How sad. There is obviously over three hundred computers in
this very large structure and pretty much every one is occupied my one of these
mega geeks.
Many predicted that in twenty or so years, the
internet colloquial language would integrate itself into common street language
so you would have the following scenario:

future": at a nightclub, friday night, 11pm]
Goon1: Hey, ASL?
Goon2: ummm; *smiley face* 22, f, Sydney, LOL.
you?
Goon1: *smiley face* LOL, 21, m,
Chatswood. can I get u a *drink emoticon*?
Goon2: ok! LOL!!
Its really sad isn't it? Just
imagine what cybersex would be like. There's a real problem with the youth
demographic and talking a very ad hoc bastardized version of English.
Perhaps its time we employ a more strict educating ethic. Like the communist
"zero tolerance" approach. If you write an essay or talk in the playground
and use mispunctuated speech, you get caned. Or if you use MSN chat and
type in some bullshit English sentence, it won't go through and you get
BANGKOKed. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Surveys show that people aged from 16 - 25 spend
most of their leisure time watching DVDs, playing PS2 (Nintendo Game Cube
blows), Computer Games, or going out. The demographic that plays games is
what I'm concerned with. This group is around 45% of the 16 - 25 year-old
population and an even larger percentage of the 16 and below age group.
Soon after the older generations leave us, the entire Australian population will
be all fat or extremely thin, boring, and hooked onto a computer somehow. And
there would be constant protests and referendums to change Commonwealth policy
(if an Australian Commonwealth still exists). Aliens would visit us and
leave after they talk to a normal citizen, they would enslave us all, since we
are all to lazy and stupid to fight, all hippies that ban all kinds of weapons,
and all either intoxicated or under the influence of some form of cannabis or
narcotics.
Damn
all of this random off topic prophecies have given me a temporary mental lapse
on this page's real objections on today's society. Hmm... Yes! Why is it
that most teenagers and young adults log onto the internet at night and chat
online? Have we completely lost our conversing skills and any form of social
expertise? You got these sad cases that form relationships online that live in
Australia that end up marrying some random whorebag from Russia or a developing
country they've never seen! This is all a poor attempt for the internet
geek to find purpose and destroy the loneliness in his life and the woman to
scam quick cash off the dude and get Australian citizenship. This all involves
the conception of a child; which is sad.
There was a case a few months ago of those
Russian Mail Order Brides via the internet for a cool AUS$15,000. They
persecuted the group in Russia and returned the cash to thirteen Australian
victims. Why should those guys get their money back? I reckon if you're
dumb enough get your money scammed outta an internet bride service you don't
deserve your money.
