During October each year in New South Wales, thousands of year 12 students begin examinations towards their Higher School Certificate; co-ordinated by the New South Wales Board of Studies (BOS). Unlike other Australian States like Victoria and South Australia, NSW's BOS chooses to have all students examined externally from their school - which is a good idea - so that the performance of each student can be analysed in relation to all the other students in the state. The school and the external marks are scaled and combined to contribute to the Universities Admission Index (UAI) which is what everyone is really after. This means that students have to work their ass off in their internal AND external exams to achieve a decent UAI score.
Every
year, you hear on the radio some dipshit parent (I suspect she looks like the
attractive lady to the left, but, if you DO have a better picture, please
forward it to me) with a dumbshit child (usually a daughter) complain about
how much shit the BOS puts "our 18-year-olds through with the HSC.
NSW should have it the same as Victoria with only having a school mark
contribution." What a load of SHIT! Everyone tries to scam their way
out of everything these days it isn't funny anymore! Having only the
School Mark Contribution is majorly flawed:
In a subject such as SDD; where all students generally fail due to its difficulty, you have schools such as the one I attended that have Nazi's for teachers that make a difficult subject even more complicated with extremely strict marking and high workloads that just breaks the mental will of students, which lead to HSC failure. But on the other hand, you have pansy teachers that pretty much just hand out marks because either (A) they sleep with the students or (B) an increased class average = increased holiday bonus. So you could have some superstudent in my school that achieves a school mark of 35%, and a total dumbshit in another school that achieves a class mark of 85%. There is no justice in that system! The external examinations allow for the School Mark to be scaled in a way that the "superstudent" can get 100% and the dumbshit can get 1%.
In my extensive research, I have
identified that there are two different types of HSC students:
Type 1 students (like the guy to the right) are complete nerds that constantly study like hell. One friend of mine commented on her/his friend's HSC experience : "he literally locked himself in his room everyday so he could study." These people go totally hardcore and end up getting UAI's of over 95.00! Well these guys really deserve it but on the odd occassion, you get Type1 that FAILS the HSC. Like they put in more work than anyone and end up getting real shitty results and repeating at TAFE. This brings up one of my beliefs in life : predestination. People are born to be people and others are born to be useless. Don't get angry at me - get angry at God.
Type2 students are the complete opposite to Type 1. I know a Type2 student that is completely lazy. Like this guy won't study, or even go out with his beloved mates.
"even getting up to piss is a chore [these days]" - Michael Carozza, Type2 Student.

Guys Like my Buddy Michael, end up sitting at their computers all day (on a good day) and THINKING about studying. Other varieties of Type2 students involve a combination of the two - the geeky dumbass. These people put all their creative energies into anything BUT study. These are like our Counter-Strike fans, and potheads, and ... transvestites (is that spelt right?). Anyway I'm getting bored of this topic. Hopefully my next post will be much more entertaining. For this page, I am truly sorry.

well you can't have a site on Geocities and not have a random image on every page! it's just not cricket!
