My brother Kurt and I have an ongoing argument of whether the bird on the Polish flag is an eagle or a falcon. This is a family dispute that will probably never be settled.

This site is dedicated to charting the lineage of the Kuprel name.

My name is Eric Kuprel. I live in Lansing, MI. I am the son of the late Edward J. Kuprel.

My grandfather (Joseph Kuprel) immigrated from Poland after WWI. It is reported (not confirmed) that his 2 other brothers died during the war fighting for Poland. They never returned home.

Through my travels and inquiries I have found that the Kuprel name is not very common in the United States. It does seem that the Kuprel surname originated from Poland.

I have been in contact with a Kuprel family that immigrated to New Jersey (from Poland) about the same time my grandfather came over. It is ironic that the patriarchs of both families shared the same name (Joseph Kuprel).

I have also been in contact with 2 other Kuprel families outside the U.S. (Argentina and Canada) that emigrated from Poland. No familily connection has been made yet.

It is my intent to expand this website as time permits and other Kuprel's contact me with information they want to share. I have thought about adding a family tree, but am wrestling with the issue of privacy.
