| When I first heard about Wave Race 64 back when the N64 came out, I wanted to know what it was like. People refered to it in magazines and Video game shows about how it was a great water racing game. Well now that I have played it I too say the same thing. With real time water physics, nice water reflections, changing water levels and weather is what gives players a good gaming experience. Jet ski games like this one are not anything new in video games, but Wave Race 64 sure makes a great addition. In racing games like this one, I look for a nice balance between graphics, play control, and gaming experience. Wave Race 64 has all of that. The graphics like a said, are realistic with sharp high resolution backgrounds and nice special effects. The play control is easy to pick up and learn without a lot of difficulty. However the handling from each of the 4 characters in the game will vary allowing a variety of different control "style". weight, speed, and agility are some of the things that will affect how your character will handle. You can also have the option to play around with the set character handling feature to suit your control style. Gaming experience is another important element in wave race. Going from sunny gentle waves to wild crazy ocean tides that sending you airborn 8 feat in the air giving players a feel for excitement. The sound effects also play an important part too. From the sound of water splashing to seagals sqeaking from above gives gamers a more realistic feel from their enviroment. Wave Race 64 offers gamers a fare wide veriety of course that all have a unique look and racing experience. The enviroments of the courses range from sunny warm beaches to the chilly ice caps. Each course offers a little something new that keeps things more interesting. When starting of in the game, you can choose from Championship, 2-player race, time trial, and stunt mode. Each I find is quite challenging so it's not like you can master it over night. For a review rap up, If you like enjoy water racing with a realistic gaming experience then Wave Race 64 is for you. |
