| Mega Man 64 |
| Mega man has come a long way in the gaming industry since 1987 with games on variuos councils such as the NES, Super NES, Game Boy and Play Station. Now Mega man takes on new challenges taking a plung into a 3-D world on the Nintendo 64. Mega Man 64 is actually an up to date "advance" version of Mega Man Legions. An older game from the PlayStation released a few years ago. Basically the graphics and added areas to explore where upgraded for the N64 version. I think Capcom creating a whole new depth using a 3-D enviroment as appose to a 2-D view was a great idea. It's a step up from the classic 2-D sided strolling that Mega Man gamers loved. Where I think Mega Man 64 shines the most, I found was the story line. A story that kept me coming back to see what would happen next. Alot like a movie or a cartoon. It's basied on Mega Man and his fellow friend Roll, who go out in a search for priceless forgotten energy shards and to uncover the clues of the "Mother lode". When first starting your game, Mega Man is in the act of snatching the first energy shard in some mine. From there you'll encounter your first nasty giant robot boss while trying to excape. After excaping, Mega Man and his friends flying ship crash lands on a remote island where your adventure will just begin. From there on you'll encounter tons of deadly robots to battle, citizens to meet, rivals to face and wide areas to explore. While Mega Man maybe a winner when it comes to the storyline, the play control is not. I find the handling abit odd. For one, it feels abit choppy when navigating Mega Man with the antilog stick. You'll also be forst to have to use the sholder buttons and the z-button to move from side to side. Although the controls may be odd at first, you would probably get use to it eventually. It just needs time. I was quite confortable with the handling after alittle use. For an all round rap up, I'd have to say that Mega Man 64 is worth a try. Anyone who enjoys Mega Man games and great RPGs will surely dig Mega Man 64. Although ,like a mentioned about the weak play control, the storyline and the nice action filled missions will surely make up for it. |
